Genesis 1:1,”In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth”, John 1:1-5, vs. 1, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God”
To read the bible, you have to believe everything that is written. There are people including Christians who choose what they can believe in the bible and reject the rest. In their mind, they don’t see how such and such a thing could happen and so they sum it up as good stories to teach us something but not necessarily what happened. How many people find it hard to believe God parting the red sea or Noah and the ark? They conclude they are too good to be true. For me to understand that all things are possible, I have to go back to the beginning.
Genesis starts with this line, “In the beginning GOD…” and In the gospel according to John, he does not begin with Jesus’ birth, or his genealogy or the beginning of his ministry, he takes us back to creation. If I can go back to the beginning and see how things began, I can understand the future for I know who has it in His hands. John begins his writing with vs. 1, “In the beginning was the Word”, in other words, in the beginning GOD. Before anything was created, God was already existing. Not restricted with time for He is eternal. God is the beginning and your life and my mine starts and ends with Him. If “in the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God“, then the truth is the bible and His Word has no lies or errors, we can trust His word.
It all started with God who is the Word, He spoke His Word to what did not exist that it may exist. Only God in and of the beginning could create things out of nothing the concept many have a problem with. People can make things out of something or some things, God made things out of nothing. As the Word, He spoke things into existence, that is creation, In Isaiah 55:11, the bible says , “So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it”. He created everything and there is nothing too difficult for Him.
He created us (man) meaning created our spirit out of nothing but then did something that he did not do with any of His other creation and that is, He formed us out of something, Genesis 2:7, “And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being”. Of all the creation He spoke into existence, He further reached to the ground and formed man which distinguishes us from any other creation. His hand has been on man from the beginning till now. That He was so mindful of man that He picked dust from the ground formed which I would say designed, breathed into His nostril the breath of life and man became a living being (soul). What an amazing beginning, this should throw out any doubts you may have had about God of His word. Creating you was a miracle, saving you was the greatest miracle, His hand on your life is a continuous miracle. The beginning changes my destiny for “I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day”, 2Timothy 1:12. If you ever find yourself doubting whether things are possible, whether His hand is upon your life or whether His word is true, just take a trip back to Genesis 1:1, “In the beginning God…”, blessings Ev
