Romans 8:34, “Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us”
There are times I sit down to pray and it is a struggle of how and what pray for. Then there are those times I just don’t have the strength to pray because I am in so much pain, distressed, confused, overwhelmed and the list goes on. Those are the times I need someone to pray for me. And who better pray for me than the One who sits on the right hand of God the Father making intersession for us.
Why do we pray and conclude “In Jesus name”? In the gospels, I see only John reporting to us of what Jesus said about His name in reference to asking (praying). John 14:13 “And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son”. He then also said, John 16:23, “And in that day you will ask Me nothing. Most assuredly, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you”. Is this not an indication that we can ask Jesus directly in His name or ask the Father in His Son’s name? Why would Jesus who is God be interceding when He is God to be called on and has everything?
Romans 8:34, “Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us”. Jesus has the power to condemn, yet He has not. Is He risen? Yes He is, the power of God raised Him from the dead. He has ascended to heaven sitting at the right hand of God the Father, His rightful place interceding for us. While He was on earth especially before He was taken to be crucified, you can see Him interceding for mankind.
Here is what I believe the reason Jesus encouraged us to pray to the Father in His name. Who did better understand what mankind goes through than Jesus?, He was tempted, He was ridiculed, He lost His friend, attacked, betrayed, denied, rejected in His home town, His brothers doubted Him, carried heavy cross to the mountain, felt the pain of being crucified etc. So when we pray while facing some of the things He faced, He intercedes for us before Father by saying something like this, “I know how it feels to go without, to be in pain, to loose someone, to be rejected, I have been there”. When I face challenge and I just can’t find strength or words to pray, I say, “Jesus, please pray for me”. He understands my infirmities better, He has been in my shoes. And who understands better both sides of heaven operations and earthly operations than Jesus?, 1Timothy 2:5, “For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus”. What are you facing today that you just don’t know or have no strength to pray about it? Do you know that you can call on the greatest intercessor to intercede for you because He knows your situation better? I am facing some challenges I need Him to pray for me when I just don’t know how to. Here is my cry and hope is yours too, Jesus, Please pray for me. Blessings Ev
