Romans 8:31 “…If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?
Our struggle at times is not so much about God blessing us, it’s about others knowing that God has blessed us. Standing boldly and demonstrating God’s blessing is sometimes not received well. To some who look at you blessed feel that you are filled with pride and to some you feel it creates jealousy and therefore keep blessings to yourself. And there are people who don’t feel that they can be blessed beyond salvation. It’s their opinion or they have been deceived into thinking that God only cares about our salvation, the only reason He died for us. God’s love is not just limited to salvation. Salvation is the beginning. It’s what gives you a sense of belonging.
If we understand this concept, then instead of being frustrated with others being blessed, we call on God full of blessings to bestore upon us what He has. When we see other’s blessed, we won’t have envy or jealousy but we will bless them for when we bless them, we will be creating avenues of blessings for ourselves. Genesis 12:3 says, “I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you”. God’s word is sure and strong.
In our text Romans 8:31 says if God be for us, who can be against us. I often break this into two parts, 1. “God before us” which is God going a head of us, leading us. Watch how God led the Israelites from Egypt, Exodus 13:21 “And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead the way, and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so as to go by day and night“. Our heavenly Father leads us every day. The second part “Go be for us” sounds a like but the letters are put in strategic places to differentiate the meanings. This I would interpret as God who though mighty yet He is concerned about our daily affairs, He has decided to be on our side. How do we know this?, well He did not spare His own Son, He delivered Him up for us all as His demonstration of love. If He was able to without withholding His very best, His only Son from us, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? I would shout right here. If someone who is rich gave let’s say half of his riches freely, would you doubt his ability to do it again? If anything your faith would be built on the fact that he did it before therefore he can do it again. That is how God is to us, He showed us that there was nothing He can withhold from those that He loved.
Every believer has a way to tap into God’s blessings by calling on God and blessing others. I remember a hymn we would sing, “Pass me not, O gentle Savior, Hear my humble cry; While on others Thou art calling (blessing, lifting up), Do not pass me by”. We may be withholding blessings from ourselves but He is not. If I know what to do to be blessed, I will not let the enemy use what others have to create envy and jealousy. I will not let him trick me into cursing them, if anything I will bless them and say to God, “while you are blessing them, do not pass me by”. Blessings, Ev
