Numbers 21:8-9, “8 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Make a fiery serpent, and set it on a pole; and it shall be that everyone who is bitten, when he looks at it, shall live.” So Moses made a bronze serpent, and put it on a pole; and so it was, if a serpent had bitten anyone, when he looked at the bronze serpent, he lived.”

The book of Hebrews opens up with God’s supreme revelation, and throughout the book it establishes that Jesus and His message is above the prophets, angels, priests etc. It begins with “1 God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, 2 has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds; “, Hebrews 11:1-2. There were some signs either through dreams, acts, audible voices that were for a time and a season. They addressed specific things in history however they were not rolled out by the Lord as normative for us to look to. God has spoken to us consistently by His sufficient trusted word. Jesus said as recorded in Hebrews 10:7, “… ‘Behold, I have come— In the volume of the book it is written of Me— To do Your will, O God.’” Read the rest of this entry »

Do You “Know” God? 3of3, Pastor Phil Sessa

Romans 1:28 “Furthermore, since they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, he gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done.”

Moral perversion brings mental perversion. Paul writes about those that did not like to retain God in their minds and how their minds were affected by such a decision. The mind is a very powerful place. Perhaps the human mind is one of the most powerful things on earth next to God. With the mind, humankind has placed men on the moon, we can send information by the click of a button around the globe, we can breathe underwater using SCUBA gear, etc…. our mind controls our actions, and whoever or whatever controls our minds will certainly control us. The World’s Worst Famine Ever, Part 2of2, Pastor Phil Sessa

Amos 8:11-13, “The days are coming,” declares the Sovereign LORD, “when I will send a famine through the land-not a famine of food or a thirst for water, but a famine of hearing the words of the LORD. Men will stagger from sea to sea and wander from north to east, searching for the word of the LORD, but they will not find it. “In that day” the lovely young women and strong young men will faint because of thirst”

Isn’t it amazing the magnitude of this famine? The Scriptures point out that even the lovely young women and strong young men would be affected by it. Read the rest of this entry »

The Prayer Routine Of Our Lord Or Christ And The Discipline Of Prayer, Part 2of3, Pastor Phil Sessa

Mark 1:35, “And rising very early in the morning, while it was still dark, he departed and went out to a desolate place, and there he prayed”

Going- Prayer causes one to go to where one can be alone with God. Businessmen take trips to meet with important people to be with than individual because some things cannot be handled through email, on the phone, or even through video chat. How much more important is the God that we serve, to get alone with Him, and seek him. It is true that one can meet with God anywhere, but one should establish a place as free from distraction as possible. It was Susanna Wesley mother of John and Charles Wesley that had nineteen children, but still would make it a point to get alone with God. Read the rest of this entry »

Psalm 119:105, “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path”

It is good to know the word, and more so to know the God of the word, He is the word Himself. The Gospel of John 1 takes us back to the origin to understand how the word of God is Jesus. John 1:1-5, “1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. 4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it”. John tells us that Jesus existed from the beginning, not as a created being but God, contrary to what some sects believe. Read the rest of this entry »

Exodus 7:10-13, “10 So Moses and Aaron went in to Pharaoh, and they did so, just as the LORD commanded. And Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh and before his servants, and it became a serpent. 11 But Pharaoh also called the wise men and the sorcerers; so the magicians of Egypt, they also did in like manner with their enchantments. 12 For every man threw down his rod, and they became serpents. But Aaron’s rod swallowed up their rods”

In the bible, we see God taking ordinary things to do extraordinary things to show that the power is not in the thing but on whose hands that things is in. And while he takes the ordinary and uses them extraordinarily, we see on the other hand we see the devil at work displaying his magic tricks. Read the rest of this entry »
