1Peter 3:7, “Husbands, likewise, dwell with them (wives) with understanding, giving HONOR to the wife, as to the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers may not be hindered”
We as husbands are called to dwell with our wives with understanding to which I will add, understanding heart which is to say being sympathetic. At times men can be insensitive, arrogant and pushy not caring about the feelings of other people especially their wives. Read the rest of this entry »
Proverbs 31:25, “Strength and honor are her clothing;”
Things work well when they are in order. Where there is no order, expect chaos (disorder). Evolution talks about a big bang, however a bang does not create order. A bomb can create a bang but it will not create order and so is a gun. Music not played in the right chords will not produce order or harmony. If you were to build a house without laying materials in proper order, expect a disaster. Study closely the creation and see order from day one to day six. God did not create man on day one, I will let you figure why. Emphasis has to be put also in the right order. Some people think we are BODY, SOUL and SPIRIT, the word of God emphasizes, SPIRIT, SOUL and BODY. Body becomes last because it is temporal. Where you put much emphasis matters a lot. Hopefully we understand the need for order in all things.
Genesis 2:18-25, vs. 18, “And the LORD God said, “It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him”
The Lord sees the need then acts on it according to His sovereign will. How precious that God knows what we need better than we do. He has orchestrated His plan as if to say, “I will make him a helper comparable (suitable to him)”.
The words emphasize man’s need for a companion, a helper and an equal. Vs. 21-22, “22 And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place. 22 Then the rib which the LORD God had taken from man He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man”. Just because a woman was made out of a man does not make her less equal deserving to be treated differently. She is special. Read the rest of this entry »
Genesis 24:1-67, “21 And the man, wondering at her, remained silent so as to know whether the LORD had made his journey prosperous or not”
There are no mistakes or disappointments when the Lord leads a person who seeks His direction. We often quote Proverbs 3:5&6, “Trust in the Lord with ALL your heart, And lean not on YOUR own understanding 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.” We tend to stop here, have we ever considered the next two verses that follows? Vs. 7&8, “7 Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the LORD and depart from evil. 8 It will be health to your flesh, And strength to your bones”. These are benefits that come with trusting in the Lord to direct your ways. Read the rest of this entry »
Ecclesiastes 9:9, “Enjoy life with your wife, whom you love, all the days of this meaningless life that God has given you under the sun—all your meaningless days. For this is your lot in life and in your toilsome labor under the sun.”
“You don’t know my wife.” Perhaps this is a common statement made by many husbands carries the weight of a negative expression. And perhaps, you’re right, another person does not “know” your wife, but are they supposed to know her like you do? God has not called anyone except for you to leave and cleave to the woman that you married to.
1Samuel 25:2-42, “Then David said to Abigail: “Blessed is the LORD God of Israel, who sent you this day to meet me! And blessed is your advice and blessed are you, because you have kept me this day from coming to bloodshed and from avenging myself”
As we have seen already, God knew this virtuous woman’s her dilemma and would not leave her in it forever. Read the rest of this entry »
