Asleep On Delilah’s Lap, Evans Olang

Judges 16:19, “Then she lulled him to sleep on her knees, and called for a man and had him shave off the seven locks of his head. Then she began to torment him, and his strength left him”

The enemy has a mission to put believers to sleep and I believe he has been successful in so many levels. The lost are asleep in the dark (sin), believers are asleep in the light. Many believers in the church have been lulled to sleep while the enemy is cutting off their seven locks symbolizing strength, leaving believers with no strength to fight back. He knows he cannot knock you out by a blow, so he tries to find ways to put you to sleep. He knows in your sleep you will yield your strength to him, leaving you dormant and inactive. We Give Ourselves To Prayer, Part 1of4, Evans Olang

Luke 22:39-46,“39 When He came to the place, He said to them, “Pray that you may not enter into temptation.”

One struggle in our lives as believers is having a prayer life. Even men mightily used of God confess their struggle too. Daily prayer is essential in our walk with God. We need to understand that God does not need prayers to be God, we need prayers to be like God (Jesus), to walk in His ways for we are His children. We do not pray because we want to, we pray because we need to. Continue reading “We Give Ourselves To Prayer, Part 1of4, Evans Olang”

Luke 22:39-45, “41 And He was withdrawn from them about a stone’s throw, and He knelt down and prayed, 42 saying, “Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.” 43 Then an angel appeared to Him from heaven, strengthening Him. 44 And being in agony, He prayed more earnestly. Then His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground”

“For bodily exercise profits a little…”, 1Timothy 4:8, BUT “…The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much”, James 5:16. One profits a little, the other avails much, I choose the one that avails much however hard it is.

The time is now to slip away and lay before the Lord seeking Him in prayers if we are going to stand. It is the roots that keep the tree standing, and it is the life that gives the tree the fruit and it’s beauty.

We Give Ourselves To Prayer, Part 4of4, Evans Olang

Acts 6:4, “But we will give ourselves to prayer, and to the ministry of the word

Desperate people do desperate things. I have come to learn that God answers desperate prayers. Those who do not treat prayers as secondary, what you do when it is convenient or only when there is a need; but you put it as priority because your life depends on it. Those who have learnt the secret prep themselves daily through it. Martin Luther said, “I have so much to do today that I shall spend the first three hours in prayer” (paraphrased). In our time we say, “we are are too busy today to pray”
