The Pillar And Ground Of The Truth, 1of2, Evans Olang

1Timothy 3:14-16, “14 These things I write to you, though I hope to come to you shortly; 15 but if I am delayed, I write so that you may know how you ought to conduct yourself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth

As I think of qualifications of a minister and the model by which the church is to run, I count on Paul’s epistle to Timothy because of its depth and clear instructions. This epistle appears to have been written to Timothy while he was at Ephesus facing numerous challenges as a young pastor. Paul wrote to instruct him in the choice of proper offices in the church by keeping to mind the right qualifications he outlined, as well as in the exercise of a regular ministry.

Behold I Am Coming Quickly, Part 2of2, Evans Olang

Revelation 22:1-21, “And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give everyone according to has work”

In the light of God’s word that reminds us that Jesus is coming back again quickly, why are people rejecting the real truth and establishing their own, John 3:19-21, tells us why, “19 And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20, For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. 21But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.” It’s not about what you feel is the truth but knowing the truth. You establish your own righteousness and you will continue to stay in darkness, but remember tomorrow is promised to no one.

John 1:14, “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth”

Living a lie as mentioned last time is very easy and we see this many times. When Solomon was faced with his first judgment, he encountered with two prostitutes who had both given birth. Two women, two babies the only difference at the time of this meeting with the king, one baby had died as the mother laid on him and she could not live with the reality that her baby was dead. So she took all her love, passion, desire and planted it on this other woman’s baby. She claimed that this other baby was hers. This is what deception is, trying to be what you are not. Trying to live a life God never designed for you. Deceiving yourself that everything is alright when in actuality it’s wrong. Read the rest of this entry »

John 1:14, “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth”

In the world , there is a constant search for “truth”. Somebody said, there is nothing as powerful as “truth“, I agree. If it’s that powerful and has such a great weight, why has it been soiled? In courts we hear, “I swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, nothing but the truth,” but many of the testimonies are a pack of lies as they discover later. Don’t we all hate dealing with liars? what they say, it’s hard to extract some truth. Their lies may appear to be truth. Liars can never be trusted and we all know that. Standing for the truth may often times call for you to stand alone. Read the rest of this entry »

Always Be Ready, Part 2of2, Evans Olang

1Peter 3:15, says “15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, AND ALWAYS BE READY to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear;”

One day, two JW’s (Jehovah witnesses) visited our home. My wife and I  gave them an opportunity to share about their faith and why they believe what they believe. After they were done, having known some of their positions especially on who Jesus is, we took time to ask them tough questions about their worldview and in that process also shared the gospel with them. We now pray that the Holy Spirit will awaken them, convict them and lead them to the true light. Read the rest of this entry »

Daniel 3:17&18, “If that is the case, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us from your hand, O king. But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we do not serve your gods, nor will we worship the gold image which you have set up”.

There is an ongoing war between Relative and Absolute statements. We get caught up in the middle many times. Let’s tackle a few questions.

First question, “What do you believe?” This question is broad until you add more words to it to identify what the question is specifically targeting. Can we say that facts can negate beliefs? of course we can. If I was to say that trucks don’t kill, I would have to be 100% sure as a fact, that would be considered an absolute statement, in this case this statement is not true. We all know that trucks can kill so my belief that it cannot will not affect or change facts. Read the rest of this entry »

Me Against The World, Evans Olang

1Kings 18:20-40, “… and the God who answers by fire, He is God…”

The world is full of many doctrines, some doctrines have erred from the truth resulting into people being deceived. We have been given an awesome opportunity as believers not just to accept anything without first testing and approving. We then we become vessels God can use to reach His people with the truth He has revealed to us. A number of believers have also fallen on the trap of error as they were not well equipped enough to differentiate or discern. Read the rest of this entry »
