Don’t Choke On The Blessing, Part 2of4, Pastor Phil Sessa

Numbers 11:3–34. “33 But while the meat was still between their teeth and before it could be consumed, the anger of the LORD burned against the people, and he struck them with a severe plague. 34 Therefore the place was named Kibroth Hattaavah, because there they buried the people who had craved other food”

One might not imagine something as seemingly minute as a lack of contentment to have a great impact. However when Israel was in the desert having come out of Egypt, it wasn’t too long before Israel would choke on the blessing that God gave to them through their discontentment. Expressions Of A Thankful Person, Pastor Phil Sessa

Luke 17: 16 , “He threw himself at Jesus’ feet and thanked him—and he was a Samaritan”.

We are quick to complain and ask God for things, but slow to thank Him for the blessings already in possession and slow or non – existent to give thanks when He does answer prayer, provide, or protect. Read the rest of this entry »

Celebrating 11th Year Anniversary

1Corinthians 2:1-5, “1 And I, brethren, when I came to you, did not come with excellence of speech or of wisdom declaring to you the testimony of God. 2 For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified. 3 I was with you in weakness, in fear, and in much trembling. 4 And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, 5 that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God”

Today marks our 11th Year Anniversary of writing devotionals, glory be to God for great things He has done and this far He has brought us. When I think about His faithfulness, all I do is humble myself because He has shown Himself so strong on behalf of those who put their confidence in Him. He uses the weak, the despised, the rejected to get His work done so that He gets all the glory for working in such a life. As Paris Reidhead in 1963 preached this message, “THE ONLY POSSIBLE WAY THAT JESUS CHRIST WILL GET GLORY OUT OF A LIFE THAT HE’S REDEEMED WITH HIS PRECIOUS BLOOD IS WHEN HE CAN FILL THAT LIFE WITH HIS PRESENCE AND LIVE THROUGH IT HIS OWN LIFE.”, so on this truth do I stand.

These 11 years have been a true great experience of learning about our amazing God through the pages of the bible and sharing it with the world. The writings have been a great tool the Lord has used to open my eyes and I give Him all the praise. He has brought brethren to minister along side of me especially Pastor Phil Sessa, and I can honestly say, the Lord is not a respecter of any man. I have learnt that God is not looking for those with abilities to use, He is looking for those available to use.

Over the years, hundreds of messages have gone out and hundreds of testimonies have been received of how the Lord has used these messages to impact lives. Today I hope you join us in celebrating what the Lord has done.

Blessings

Luke 17:11-19, “And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, returned, and with a loud voice glorified God, and fell down on his face at His feet, giving Him thanks”

In January 2009, a miracle was witnessed in New York where an airbus flight 1549 carrying 155 passengers crashed into Hudson river with the plane remaining intact. All the passengers lived making it one of the greatest miracles I have witnessed reported on media. Read the rest of this entry »

Philippians 4:6-7, “6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

It is easy to do things when you feel like it, this journey is not about feelings but discipline. Getting in the presence of God and praying is hard but there is such a great joy when you do it. How often do we first try to do something, when it does not work we remember to pray? I think it’s a guy thing. Women are quick to ask for direction when they get lost, men try hard to find their way and sometimes get frustrated when encouraged to ask for directions. I struggle with bible reading and praying in my walk too, however I keep striving Read the rest of this entry »

The Reason For The Season, Evans Olang

Luke 2:11, “For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord”

People have different meanings as to what Christmas is all about or what it means to them. To some it is a time for family get together, to some it is a time to exchange gifts, sing Christmas carols etc. But what is Christmas? Christmas is a Christian feast commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ. When researching, I found that the word “Christmas” which is nowhere found in the Bible is an old English word that means “Christ’s Mass“. This refers to the celebration of the Lord’s Supper, i.e. the Mass. The earliest occurrence of the word on record is 1038 A.D. Christians at this time considered the Mass (Lord’s Supper) to be the most important part of the celebration of Christ’s birth, hence it came to be called Christmas (there could be more to it). During this time, we hear songs about Christmas being the most wonderful time of the year but the question is, is it about Christ? Read the rest of this entry »

Praying Is The Nucleus, Evans Olang

Psalm 127:1, “Unless the LORD builds the house, They labor in vain who build it; Unless the LORD guards the city, The watchman stays awake in vain”

In my judgement, our generation has neglected prayers. I do not mean prayer of getting things or prayer for blessings but effective prayer that avails much according to James 5:16. We have neglected to be doers of the word and have become only hearers once again according to James.
