Genesis 39:1-23, “And his master saw that the Lord was with him and that Lord made all he did to prosper in his hand.”

What would you do if what you always dreamed for wasn’t coming to pass?  instead of things getting better, you got  further and further away from it. Joseph is a good example, he had a dream at the age of 17 and his dream was not that one day he would fail but that one day he will be great and that his family and many people would bow to him. Talk to any teenagers today and hear all their dreams and desires of success. You must have had dreams at that age too. Joseph had a good dream but he was naive, boastful and insensitive towards his brothers. He did not even realize that the dream was not about him but a picture of Christ. In his case, a lot of character building was needed before God fulfilled all that He planned. Read the rest of this entry »

You Can’t Take My Character, Pastor Phil Sessa

Genesis 37:23, “So it came to pass, when Joseph had come to his brothers, that they stripped Joseph of his tunic, the tunic of many colors that was on him.”

People can take temporal things from us such as houses, cars, jobs, money, etc…, but there are some things that nobody can take. In the blockbuster movie Braveheart, William Wallace played by Mel Gibson Director of the Passion of the Christ was speaking to the people of Scotland that he was rallying together. He said, “Aye, fight and you may die, run, and you’ll live… at least for a while. And dying in your beds, many years from now, would you be willing’ to trade ALL the days, from this day to that, for one chance, just one chance, to come back here and tell our enemies that they may take our lives, but they’ll never take… OUR FREEDOM!” Read the rest of this entry »

Our God Is Powerful, Evans Olang

Romans 8:31, “What then shall we say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?”

There is nothing exciting as seeing God display His power in situations we have no control over. In the process of God displaying His power, the old silly devil does the same. We often get terrified of his power and find that we are not progressing. I want us to understand that the devil is powerful, no doubt. He has his way of performing magic tricks, no doubt. We cannot render him powerless but we sure can render powerless what he sends our way because of who is for us. God is amazing, He is not going about rendering the enemy powerless, He goes about showing greater power than the devil’s. Read the rest of this entry »

Overcoming Life Obstacles Part 2of5, Pastor Boaz Olang

Posted on Updated on

There are seven strategies or approaches to dealing with obstacles that I would like to share. They are not the only ones, nor are they the super strategies for overcoming all of life’s obstacles we face daily. But they are good and godly, and are time tested, as the Bible will prove and as some of us will confirm from our testimonies and past experiences and victories God have given us. I will begin today by examining the first strategy or approach: Read the rest of this entry »

Developing The Leader Within, Evans Olang

Genesis 41:33, “Now therefore, let Pharaoh select a discerning wise man, and set him over the land of Egypt”…And Pharaoh said to his servants, “Can we find such a one as this, a man in who is the Spirit of God?”…And Pharaoh said to Joseph, “See, I have set you over all the land of Egypt”

One man was asked how he makes elephant sculptures off a tree trunk, his response, “I take the tree trunk, chop off out of it what does not look like an elephant and what I will be left with will be an elephant. Thereafter I refine that elephant to bring to a completion what I had in mind when I thought of making it”. I have read somewhere that “leaders are not born but are made”. Challenges Can Be Channels For Blessings, Judy Olang

Genesis 45:4-5, 7-8 “Then Joseph said to his brothers, “Come close to me.” When they had done so, he said, “I am your brother Joseph, the one you sold into Egypt! And now, do not be distressed and do not be angry with yourselves for selling me here, because it was to save lives that God sent me ahead of you.”…… vs. 7-8 “But God sent me ahead of you to preserve for you a remnant on earth and to save your lives by a great deliverance. So then, it was not you who sent me here, but God. He made me father to Pharaoh, lord of his entire household and ruler of all Egypt.” NIV.

I have been reading the Bible from cover to cover and this is my 3rd time starting from Genesis and it always amazes me how every time I read the passages I already read before there is always a new revelation or a renewed understanding of what I am reading at the time. I am assuming we are all familiar with the story of Joseph, how his father Jacob loved him more than his other brothers and this resulted into jealousy among his brothers and they eventually sold him off to the Egyptians and they came back and lied to their father that Joseph died Read the rest of this entry »

Freed To Serve Him, Part 1of2, Evans Olang

Genesis 39:6, “Thus he left all that he had in Joseph’s hand, and he did not know what he had except for the bread which he ate”.

To take a way a man’s freedom is to take away his reason for living. Watching inmates being interviewed especially those locked up in a confined environment talk candidly about what it means and feels to loose freedom. There are some who end up going crazy because their freedom is taken away due to what’s been done. Read the rest of this entry »
