When To Contend, Part 2of2, Pastor Phil Sessa

Posted on Updated on

Acts 15:39, “Then the contention became so sharp that they parted from one another “

This account is the famous argument that took place between Paul and Barnabas over John Mark. In part 1 of “When to Contend”, Paul and Barnabas were in agreement and contended together against the Judaizers (Acts 15:1 – 5). However, now in Acts 15:39 they had such a disagreement that they ended up going their separate ways. So the question remains who was right in this contention, Paul or Barnabas? They had worked together for so long. Read the rest of this entry »

Moved By Feelings And Not By Situations, Part 3of4, Evans Olang

Mark 9:14-29,”…But if You can do anything, have compassion on us and help us”

A father had faith for his child to be healed the moment he brought him to Jesus. Once His disciples could not do anything for his son and looking at the condition of his son and how worse it was getting. Then looking at how the spirits were terrorizing his boy even in the presence of Jesus, his faith from his request to Jesus suggest that he had very little hope, he says “But if You can do anything have compassion on us and help us“. The word “IF” sounded like a doubt in Jesus’ ability to heal. If you doubt someone’s ability, then how will you have faith in them? “WHEN” is the word of assurance, that is the word of faith this father needed. He needed help for his son, however, he also needed help to believe that it could be done. My prayer is that we will take our faith off “IF” and move it to “WHEN” for that is where the Lord would have us put our faith. He can do it period, it’s just a matter of WHEN. The bible says that, “He makes all things beautiful in His time” Read the rest of this entry »

Mark 9:14-29,”…But if You can do anything, have compassion on us and help us”

As we know no one has everything together, we all have things we are dealing big or small. I want us to remember, where there is a will, there is away; where there is a problem, there is the solver of the problem; where there is hope, there is life; and where there is faith there is trust. Often times people don’t excel because of what they believe a lie leaving them condemned. All they have left is to nurse all the failures and defeats they encountered previously. As long as I have breath in me, I’m going to keep pumping life in Christ and knowing that regardless of what I have gone through as long as it did not kill me, it gave me an opportunity to understand that greater things have been deposited in my spirit not to be terminated prematurely. You and I did not come this far to call it a quit, we still need find God given ways to stand through the test of time “for in Him we live and move and have our being, as also some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are also His offspring.”, Acts 17:28. What’s Wrong With The Gospel? Section 1:”The Missing Parts”, Part 2of6, Keith Green 1953-1982

Continued Missing Parts,

3. The Threat and Terrors of Hell, and the Guilt of Sinners. We often hear people say, “I’m tired of hell-fire and brimstone preaching!” “Well,” I often reply, “when was the last time you heard any?” It is true, very few people preach on hell anymore – it is no longer in vogue. We shouldn’t scare the poor sinners, no, that wouldn’t do. They’re just unfortunate, misguided souls, right? Wrong! The Bible clearly shows that they are rebels who have robbed and dishonored the living God, infinitely offending Him.7 They have no right to look at themselves in any other light. Reach Out And Touch, Evans Olang

Mark 5:25-34, “…For she said, if I may touch but His clothes, I shall be whole…”

Desperate people do desperate things if they know that whatever they’ve have to do will make an impact and a difference in their lives. When you know your restoration depends on something extraordinary, bigger than you, you will not care about what people say or think. A woman with the issue of blood was in a situation where she spent everything trying to fix her condition. For 12years she had spent money, visited worthless physicians with no improvement only to be left hopeless. Read the rest of this entry »

Mark 5:21-43, “Your daughter is dead. Why trouble the Teacher any further?”

If the Lord had not been on my side, I would have been consumed. His presence always assures me that everything will be fine even if I don’t see it. I don’t have to understand it, all I have to do is only believe, All things are possible with God. My faith is not so much grounded on “He will”, may faith is grounded on “He can”. It does no matter whether He did not appear when I really needed Him, all that matters is that He is here now and nothing is too difficult for Him. Instead of accusing Him for not coming in time, we should say, “Lord we are glad You are here”.

Mark 5:38, “Then He came to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and saw a tumult and those who wept loudly”. Do not act like you don’t have no problem. Admit that you have a problem but confess that there is a way Read the rest of this entry »

Not Over Until He Says So, Part 2of3, Evans Olang

Mark 5:21-43, “Your daughter is dead. Why trouble the Teacher any further?”

The first 4 verses from vs. 21 concentrated on the man with a sick daughter, the next 10 verses takes a turn to concentrate on this woman with the issue of blood. In reading the story, we can conclude that it wasn’t a quick stop, in vs. 35, “While He was still speaking, some came from the ruler of the synagogue’s house who said, “Your daughter is dead. Why trouble the Teacher any further?” This is not news this father wanted to hear despite knowing how close his daughter was to dying. Who is to blame for the death of the little girl? Some would blame the woman with the issue of blood, she delayed Jesus from reaching the sick girl. Some would blame Jesus, they would argue that He should have set His priorities straight. The bible says in Isaiah 55:8, “for My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways, ” says the Lord”. To you He may have delayed, to Him, He is always on time.
