Oil In The Lamp, Sarah Susan

Leviticus 24:1-2, “The Lord said to Moses “Command the Israelites to bring you clear oil of pressed olives for the light so that the lamps may be kept burning continually” images

What is clear oil? From is it derived from -olives? Olive has a special significance in the Bible. The oil can be extracted only if olive is pressed rather crushed /squeezed. This olive undergoes painful treatment for the core essence to get extracted, which in turn becomes the source of nourishment for many. This oil has to be used in the lamps so that they give light and can be kept burning continually. Read the rest of this entry »

John 3 Study: The New Birth 9of10, Evans Olang

John 3:19-20, “19 And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed”

John 3As we have already tackled that Jesus did not come to condemn the world, but as the Light He revealed His righteousness to show that the world (men) are already condemned without believing in Him.  In these two verses above, He states clearly why men will not believe (come to the light); they love darkness (sin).

At this point would we conclude that there are wonderful people in the world if the gospel was shared with them would gladly receive it because they love the truth (light)? Read the rest of this entry »

His Glory Is Risen Upon You, Evans Olang

Isaiah 60:1, “Arise, shine; For your light has come! and the glory of the Lord is risen upon you”

Three key things to share with us are on the scripture introduced above. When we get saved, it is like a new born baby. The birth of he baby is not the end but the beginning. Often times those some who have been in Christ for a while tend to lose the fire and become regular people meaning everything else is normal. No zeal to grow, no zeal to witness, no zeal to pray effectively, or zeal to even read the word with passion. It’s very easy to lose fruits without knowing, we need to therefore constantly do spiritual evaluation to see where we are. I know of people who used to talk about the Lord strongly, they had such a joy and enthusiasm but something somewhere happened and the zeal began to fade away only to be left with a form of godliness and deny the power.

Hated For The Light, Pastor Phil Sessa

Acts 23:12, “And when it was day, certain of the Jews banded together, and bound themselves under a curse, saying that they would neither eat nor drink till they had killed Paul.”

Paul was known by many as a troublemaker against the kingdom of darkness. I don’t know who these Jews made their vow to, and who it was that would curse them, but they were not going to kill Paul, because God would not allow His servant to die at this time. The thinking of these Jews was so warped because they were willing to come under a curse to kill Paul; however they failed to realize that they were already under a curse, the curse of sin. Deuteronomy 28:15 – 68 and Psalm 1 show this very clearly. Read the rest of this entry »

The God Of The Word, Evans Olang

Psalm 119:105, “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path”

It is good to know the word, and more so to know the God of the word, He is the word Himself. The Gospel of John 1 takes us back to the origin to understand how the word of God is Jesus. John 1:1-5, “1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. 4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it”. John tells us that Jesus existed from the beginning, not as a created being but God, contrary to what some sects believe. Read the rest of this entry »

Standing Strong On Bended Knees, Part 2of3, Evans Olang

Mark 6:30-32, vs. “30 Then the apostles gathered to Jesus and told Him all things, both what they had done and what they had taught. 31 And He said to them, “Come aside by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while.” For there were many coming and going, and they did not even have time to eat. 32 So they departed to a deserted place in the boat by themselves”

Upon returning, they began to give Jesus and those present account of their accomplishments. Mark 6:30, “Then the apostles gathered to Jesus and told Him all things, both what they had done and what they had taught”. While ministers are accountable both for what they do and teach; without prayer, the Word would be like LIGHT without HEAT. 1Corinthians 4:20, “For the kingdom of God is not in word but in power”. 1Thessalonians 1:5, “For our gospel did not come to you in word only, but also in power”. Light Without Heat, 1of2, Evans Olang

Acts 19:11-15, “11 Now God worked unusual miracles by the hands of Paul, 12 so that even handkerchiefs or aprons were brought from his body to the sick, and the diseases left them and the evil spirits went out of them. 13 Then some of the itinerant Jewish exorcists took it upon themselves to call the name of the Lord Jesus over those who had evil spirits, saying, “We exorcise you by the Jesus whom Paul preaches.” 14 Also there were seven sons of Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, who did so. 15 And the evil spirit answered and said, “Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are you?”

I have been moved in the last few years seeing a generation of young Christian men and women going back to the rock from which we were cut. By that I mean going back to sound biblical teaching. That the current fads in the land are not moving them, in fact they are refuting those who contradict the word of God including big names. I have listened to radio programs, read blogs, listened to sound teachings and I am amazed at the depth of knowledge. And while this is good and most necessary, I am concerned that little is wrote, mentioned or encouraged concerning praying. The danger I foresee in my judgment is becoming a generation that has light (the word) but no heat (prayer) and you cannot separate the two. You cannot separate heat and light from the fire.
