Has A Means Become An Idol? Evans Olang

Numbers 21:8-9, “8 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Make a fiery serpent, and set it on a pole; and it shall be that everyone who is bitten, when he looks at it, shall live.” So Moses made a bronze serpent, and put it on a pole; and so it was, if a serpent had bitten anyone, when he looked at the bronze serpent, he lived.”

The book of Hebrews opens up with God’s supreme revelation, and throughout the book it establishes that Jesus and His message is above the prophets, angels, priests etc. It begins with “1 God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, 2 has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds; “, Hebrews 11:1-2. There were some signs either through dreams, acts, audible voices that were for a time and a season. They addressed specific things in history however they were not rolled out by the Lord as normative for us to look to. God has spoken to us consistently by His sufficient trusted word. Jesus said as recorded in Hebrews 10:7, “… ‘Behold, I have come— In the volume of the book it is written of Me— To do Your will, O God.’” Read the rest of this entry »

Leviticus 8:22-24, “22 And he brought the second ram, the ram of consecration. Then Aaron and his sons laid their hands on the head of the ram, 23 and Moses killed it. Also he took some of its blood and put it on the tip of Aaron’s right ear, on the thumb of his right hand, and on the big toe of his right foot. 24 Then he brought Aaron’s sons. And Moses put some of the blood on the tips of their right ears, on the thumbs of their right hands, and on the big toes of their right feet. And Moses sprinkled the blood all around on the altar” Read the rest of this entry »

James 1:4&5, “But let patience have it’s perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all men liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him”

Nearly everyone struggles with patience. The more I walk with the Lord the more I learn that God is not in a hurry. Read about delivering the Israelites, raising David, Joseph, Paul, Abraham etc. and you will see this trend with God. If God was not patient with us, we would all be gone tomorrow. Apart From Him You Can Do Nothing! Pastor Phil Sessa

John 15:5, “I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”

This account takes place after the disciples had spent three years with Jesus just prior to going to the cross. Jesus is the Vine and Christians are the branches which gives us a picture of the relationship He desires us to understand. You see Jesus wants a flourishing family. He could have picked up anything to illustrate His heart, like a sword, a bucket of water, but His chose grapes as His illustration. Being hours from His death, Jesus wanted to leave a graphic picture of what He desired to come forth from the lives of the disciples, and that was fruit. Christ desired to have His character developed in His followers, and for those followers to be fishers of men. Read the rest of this entry »

Hebrews 11: For The Sake Of The Call, Part 1of2, Evans Olang

Hebrews 11:23-29, “24 By faith Moses, when he became of age, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter, 25 choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin, 26 esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt; for he looked to the reward.”

Hebrews 11 has been rich for me as I learn from our faith heroes. Today let’s look at Moses. Moses was born at a time Pharaoh was determined to kill newborn boys of the Israelites. And Hebrews 11:23, says “By faith Moses, when he was born, was hidden three months by his parents, because they saw he was a beautiful child; and they were not afraid of the king’s command”. It’s God At Work In You, Evans Olang

Philippians 2:12-13, “12 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; 13 for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.”

imageIn reading a few writings by Paul, I find it fascinating how he encourages believers to do something and then he says that it’s God who works in you to do it, then tells you again to do it. Galatians 2:20 is a great example, another one is Philippians 4:11-13.And the reason is simple, he mentions himself as the one who lives but then he shows us the One by the reason he lives. In other words, Paul always wanted to bring to light whose he was so that all glory and honor may be of Christ alone. He says in 1Corinthians 4:7, “we have this treasure oin the earthen vessels that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us”, the fact that we have the treasure in us is the reason we can stand, it’s the driving factor. 2Peter 2: Beware Of Toxic Gospel, 3of7, Evans Olang

2Peter 2:2, “And many will follow their destructive ways, because of whom the way of truth will be blasphemed”

imageMuch of what the world believes about Christianity is what they see mostly on the media; and anytime anyone says they are pastor or evangelist, they think of televangelism. You are considered one of them when you are not. And here comes the sad part, many follow their destructives ways.
