Throw A Way The Recipe Book, Evans Olang

2Kings 5:1-14, vs. 1, “Now Naaman, commander of the army of the king of Syria, was a great and honorable man in the eyes of his master, because by him the LORD had given victory to Syria. He was also a mighty man of valor, but a leper”.

I am amazed by how God works, His ways are not our ways and His plans are not our plans. He is the God of the impossibilities. We know He will do it because He has said it in His word, yet often times we do not know how He will do it. We tend to work well with recipes because if we stick to a recipe, we can tell what the result will be. Often times we bring this also in our Christian life as we feel God has a recipe of doing things. It’s like He has set a method A,B,C of how to get it done. Read the rest of this entry »

Pouring Your Heart To The Lord, Evans Olang

1Samuel 1:8-18, “But Hannah answered and said, “No, my lord, I am a woman of sorrowful spirit. I have drunk neither wine nor intoxicating drink, but have poured my soul before the Lord”

People do struggle to pray. You may have struggled numerous times to pray and still got nowhere. And if you prayed, your prayers felt so dry, not effective, and did not even enjoy it. I remember years back when I had the same kind of struggle and God had to teach me to pray effectively changing my whole perspective on prayers and how to approach the throne of grace. Yes I still struggle to pray, the will to is there, the strength and the effectiveness sometimes fail.

Dead To Self And Alive Unto Christ, Evans Olang

2Corinthians 5:14-15, “14 For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died; 15 and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again”

This is a kind of message few will say “Amen” to, nevertheless it needs to be sounded more often. I think that many are loosing sight of the reason we serve Christ. While we say and even preach that its not about us but about Him, many of our preaching, worship songs, our actions and even prayers tell a different story. Read the rest of this entry »

While Men Slept, Part 1of3: The Reason To Pray, Evans Olang

Matthew 13:24-25, “24 Another parable He put forth to them, saying: “The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field; 25 but while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and went his way.”

In our month of prayer and fasting, it is beneficial to address three areas that affect the spheres of our prayer lives 1. THE REASON TO PRAY, 2. THE POWER TO PRAY, 3.THE HOW TO PRAY. We start with The Reason To Pray. Read the rest of this entry »

1Timothy 3:14-16, “And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifested in the flesh, Justified in the Spirit, Seen by angels, Preached among the Gentiles, Believed on in the world, Received up in glory.”

Having discussed the pillar and ground of the truth in Part 1, Paul further presses upon Timothy to be constant in regard to the greatest diligence, faithfulness, and zeal in handling God’s word. Teaching among other things 6 pillars of the truth that must remain pure and be preached. 1.God was manifested in the flesh, 2. Justified in the Spirit, 3.Seen by angels, 4. Preached among the Gentiles, 5.Believed on in the world, 6. Received up in glory. Read the rest of this entry »

Reaching One For Christ, Part 2of2, Pastor Phil Sessa

Acts 8:30-31, “30 So Philip ran to him, and heard him reading the prophet Isaiah, and said, “Do you understand what you are reading?” 31 And he said, “How can I, unless someone guides me?” And he asked Philip to come up and sit with him.”

Explain the Word of God to them. Philip explained the Word of God to him. As a physical eunuch, he would have been denied access to the temple (Deut. 23:1). If this man was to be reached with the gospel it would have to be outside the temple, which is the plan which God set up, using His servant Philip for this man. Read the rest of this entry »

GO! “Philip ran to him”. There is a term that I heard in the past called INSTANT OBEDIENCE. Jesus commanded us to, “The angel of God told Philip “’Arise and go toward the south along the road which goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza.’ This is desert.Read the rest of this entry »
