John 15:7-8, “7 If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. 8 By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples”

I constantly run into believers seeking to know or discern the will of God. As I mentioned in part 1, John 15 is one of the most important passages in the bible because it helps us discern the will of God for believers. In this posting we will look at discerning perceptive or revealed will of God and in the next posting we will look at closely at God’s permissive or perfect will.

Before I address the two vs. above, we need to ask ourselves what does Mark 11:24 mean? It reads, “Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.”  Its one of the most quoted and also highly abused vs. From looking at the vs. it sounds like a blank check does it not? “God told me “…whatever things you ask…”? This needs to be looked at in the light of who we are in Christ. We should be driven to have the mind of Christ, be imitators of Christ, and be conformed to the image of Christ. 1Samuel 1:1-27, “O Lord of hosts, if You will indeed look on the affliction of Your maidservant and remember me, and not forget Your maid servant, but will give Your maidservant a male child, then I will give him to the Lord all the days of his life, no razor shall come upon his head”

teswtingAnything the Lord does, He does it for a reason and it’s upon men to learn why He chooses to do certain things through people. Everything God does, He does it glory for His glory and men become the beneficiary of His blessings.

Here is Hannah who had a loving and caring husband. She was married to Elkanah who had another wife called Peninnah. Elkanah loved Hannah more than Peninnah for we see how they get treated when it comes to getting gifts. Vs 4&5, “And whenever the time came for Elkanah to make an offering, he would give portions to Peninnah his wife… vs. 4 But to Hannah he would give a double portion, for he loved Hannah”.  Now God had blessed Peninnah with children, Hannah on the other hand was barren for the Lord had closed her womb. Being that she was loved and cared for, given more attention, more material things you would think that would give her all the joy and the happiness, not in Hannah’s case. Numbers 13:1-33, “30 Then Caleb quieted the people before Moses, and said, “Let us go up at once and take possession, for we are well able to overcome it”

The bible says that as a man thinks in his heart so is he. Many times we speak what we see. What we see indeed can be a fact but believers are not called to live by facts but by faith. In our story, the fact is, there were giants in the land of Canaan, however the truth was, God had given them the land regardless of the facts. Read the rest of this entry »

I hope you find some truth to assist you in this journey that only God can bring us through. Read the rest of this entry »

Standing Strong On Bended Knees, Part 3of3, Evans Olang

Mark 6:30-32, vs. 30, “Then the apostles gathered to Jesus and told Him all things, both what they had done and what they had taught. 31 And He said to them, “Come aside by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while.” For there were many coming and going, and they did not even have time to eat. 32 So they departed to a deserted place in the boat by themselves”

Mark 6:32,So they departed to a deserted place in the boat by themselves”. The disciples listened to Jesus’ call. Luke 11:1, “Now it came to pass, as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, that one of His disciples said to Him, “Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.” A disciple of Jesus never asked Him to teach them how to preach, heal the sick, raise the dead. They asked Him to teach them to pray. His classes on prayer was always offsite. What about us? Misguided passion leaves us stubborn to do what we want rather than what He wants.
