Building Trust For Trials On The Horizon, Pastor Phil Sessa

Exodus 7:810, “8Then the LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying, 9 “When Pharaoh speaks to you, saying, ‘Show a miracle for yourselves,’ then you shall say to Aaron, ‘Take your rod and cast it before Pharaoh, and let it become a serpent.’ ” 10 So Moses and Aaron went in to Pharaoh, and they did so, just as the LORD commanded. And Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh and before his servants, and it became a serpent.”

How does one come to trust someone in the midst of trials? Who do you know you can go to when you must do something that causes you to become uneasy about the possible outcomes? Perhaps you turn to a spouse, a best friend, a co-worker, a parent, grandparent, or a sibling. Do you believe God to be trustworthy? Let’s look to Moses to discover what Moses discovered about how God builds trust for trials on the horizon.

Moses was called by God to be Israel’s deliverer. Surely God could easily destroy all the Egyptians, just as he killed the firstborn son of the Egyptians when sending the tenth plague. However, like many times, God chooses to send a man to display the His power. Continue reading

I Shall Not Die But Live, Evans Olang

Psalm 118:17-18, “17 I shall not die, but live, And declare the works of the LORD. 18 The LORD has chastened me severely, But He has not given me over to death”

If there was an enemy any of us would want to get rid of, most of us would say death. Death robs us of those dear to us, leaving us with such a great void. The more we also think of it, the more we all realize that we are on death row waiting for our time. Continue reading

Confidence In God, Evans Olang

Psalm 118:8, “It is better to trust in the Lord than to put your confidence in man”image

Life is a long and bumpy road. We each carry our troubles, like heavy load. There are many hard turns and some dead ends. However whenever we are stuck, we must know whom look to. Think of the elections, majority put their confidence in the next president hoping he will turn things around.

The scripture verse above is right in the middle of the bible. I would call it the heartbeat of every man who understands what life is. When I look at a scripture, I tend to pick out a word or two to understand why the author chose to use those particular words. In this case, the author used the word “Confidence” instead of “Faith” and my first reaction was, is there any difference? Let’s start with “faith”, faith is trust, belief and confidence. In His Time, Part 3of3, Sarah Susan

Ecclesiastes 3:11, “GOD MADE EVERYTHING BEAUTIFUL IN ITS TIME”

Exactly the night before Haman was to speak to the king to have Mordecai hanged, God did not allow the king to sleep. Sleep is ordered by the Lord. “He grants sleep to those He loves” Psalms 127, Praise Him…Only those who are peaceful can have a good sleep. Continue reading

In His Time, Part 2of3, Sarah Susan

Ecclesiastes 3:11, “GOD MADE EVERYTHING BEAUTIFUL IN ITS TIME”

To pick up from where we left, we learn how Haman became excited about his plan and that all the Jews would be destroyed forever. In high spirits, he called his friends and wife Zeresh and boasted of his vast wealth, his many sons, all the ways the king exalted him and how he was elevated above the other nobles and officials… “Pride goes before a fall” Continue reading

In His Time, Part 1of3, Sarah Susan

Ecclesiastes 3:11, “GOD MADE EVERYTHING BEAUTIFUL IN ITS TIME”

What is “its time” and what is “our time?” Let us meditate on it ….Many times, we tend to be in a hurry regarding things in our day today life. Occasionally, if there is a delay, we panic…Things are not moving as we had expected…Thus there is also some discouragement /frustration ..and we cannot wholeheartedly praise Him for all His works. King Asa 1of4: Rest And Confidence In God, Evans Olang

2Chronicles 14:1-15, “11 And Asa cried out to the Lord his God, and said, “Lord, it is nothing for You to help, whether with many or with those who have no power; help us, O Lord our God, for we rest on You, and in Your name we go against this multitude. O Lord, You are our God; do not let man prevail against You!”

Asa succeeded his father Abijah and was one of the kings who did that which was right in the sight of the Lord demonstrated by what he did, (2Chronicles 14:2). He aimed at pleasing God, studied to approve himself to Him. In his days, God had given him peace and rest. Even in the midst peace and rest, vs. “4 He commanded Judah to seek the Lord God of their fathers, and to observe the law and the commandment”. How easy it is to relax in the time of peace and not seek God. How easy to wait until the day of trouble to figure out what to do. That was not with Asa and his kingdom.

The Lord’s Workshop, Evans Olang

Isaiah 41:15, “Behold, I will make thee a new sharp threshing instrument having teeth: thou shall thresh the mountains, and beat them small, and shall make thee hills of chaff”

Life is full of up and downs, a lot of challenges to go with it. There are days you feel like you are winning and there are days when you feel like a failure. Often times I have used the word “season modes” for every season presents it’s weather and everyone has to learn to adapt in every season otherwise you become a victim. At times even the preachers go dry, and they are left with no power and no strength to fight the good fight of a soldier. If the preachers, pastors, deacons, board members, evangelists are not exempt from the dry and burnouts. God may take you through a process and when you think you now have everything in place to make you perfect, He will relocate you again for His purpose is not to make you confident in yourself but confident in Him. When We Complicate Faith For Nothing, Evans Olang

Acts 3:1-16, “16 And His name, through faith in His name, has made this man strong, whom you see and know. Yes, the faith which comes through Him has given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all”

Why do we make faith complicated? Many preachers especially those of Word Faith make faith so complicated and so hard to reach. It is so complicated that it sounds like you have to do it right, you have to follow a recipe or a formula to get it right. This is often crowned with sow a seed faith to get your prayers answered. In other words, how you sow indicates what kind of faith you have. It almost sounds like you must have faith in your faith if anything is to happen in your life and many are miserable because they have been told their faith is not strong to receive.
