Reach Out And Touch, Evans Olang

Mark 5:25-34, “…For she said, if I may touch but His clothes, I shall be whole…”

Desperate people do desperate things if they know that whatever they’ve have to do will make an impact and a difference in their lives. When you know your restoration depends on something extraordinary, bigger than you, you will not care about what people say or think. A woman with the issue of blood was in a situation where she spent everything trying to fix her condition. For 12years she had spent money, visited worthless physicians with no improvement only to be left hopeless. Read the rest of this entry »

Genesis 3:1-21, “The Lord God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife and clothed them”

We looked at God the Creator stepping in making Adam and Eve garments and not only making them garments, but He also clothed them. We also saw how the plans of God are executed in heaven to be performed and perfected here on earth. We pray “let Your will be done here on earth as it is done in heaven”, in other words, let you Your architectural plan for our lives be performed and perfected here on earth. Genesis 3:1-21, “The Lord God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife and clothed them”

A garment is a type of coat or robe especially used for official purposes. In Genesis after the fall of man, Adam and Eve having had knowledge of their nakedness moved to cover themselves by making for themselves clothing out of leaves. When men fell, 1. Immediately they knew they had failed God, 2. They discovered they were naked and 3. They developed a need to hide. We understand that there are things as human beings we can do on our own and might work but the truth is, it will not last for long. They had leaves covering them not realizing that leaves would soon dry up and fall off. So man tries so hard to cover his nakedness only for it to work but for a season. The bible tells me that there are things that if God does not do, anything someone else will do will be in vain. Psalm 127:1, “Except the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain that build it: Except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh in vain”. I would say that this verse means that anything you are going to do if the Lord is not involved in it, however hard you try and do it, it will never work. Read the rest of this entry »

Matthew 9:20-22, “And suddenly, a woman who had a flow of blood for twelve years came from behind and touched the hem of His garment”

As we looked at the woman with the issue of blood in Part 1, we could glean some principles from her story and apply it to our lives as we start a New Year.

1. Be a Jesus seeker: This woman in the midst of her situation became a Jesus seeker. She made it upon herself to find Jesus. Mathew 9:20, “And suddenly, a woman who had a flow of blood for twelve years came from behind and touched the hem of His garment”. She decided to make a quick move before the opportunity passed her by. Read the rest of this entry »

Order Creates Harmony, Evans Olang

Proverbs 31:25, “Strength and honor are her clothing;”

Things work well when they are in order. Where there is no order, expect chaos (disorder). Evolution talks about a big bang, however a bang does not create order. A bomb can create a bang but it will not create order and so is a gun. Music not played in the right chords will not produce order or harmony. If you were to build a house without laying materials in proper order, expect a disaster. Study closely the creation and see order from day one to day six. God did not create man on day one, I will let you figure why. Emphasis has to be put also in the right order. Some people think we are BODY, SOUL and SPIRIT, the word of God emphasizes, SPIRIT, SOUL and BODY. Body becomes last because it is temporal. Where you put much emphasis matters a lot. Hopefully we understand the need for order in all things.

When You Can’t Get What You Want, by Evans Olang

Genesis 39:16-20, “16 So she kept his garment with her until his master came home. 17 Then she spoke to him with words like these, saying, “The Hebrew servant whom you brought to us came in to me to mock me; 18 so it happened, as I lifted my voice and cried out, that he left his garment with me and fled outside.” 19 So it was, when his master heard the words which his wife spoke to him, saying, “Your servant did to me after this manner,” that his anger was aroused. 20 Then Joseph’s master took him and put him into the prison”

One of the most frightening things in my opinion is the damage a tongue can do. James speaks extensively about the tongue, how deadly it is left unattended. Have you ever wondered why God gave us one mouth to speak and two ears to listen instead of the other way round? Yet we find that a lot of people are quick to speak and slow to listen; They jump to conclusions without facts. Read the rest of this entry »
