Leviticus 17:11, “For the life of the flesh is in the blood…”
John 15:7, “If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you”. Yesterday we talked about the bleeding believer who needs to abide in the vine, today I want us to concentrate on “If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you” It’s good to abide which in other translations use the word “remain”, we also need to allow the Words of the Lord to abide (remain) in us. Hosea 4:6, “My people are destroyed for of lack of knowledge (in other words because of ignorance): Because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee….”
What you don’t know can destroy you or deprive you of what is rightfully yours. Ignorance has no defense, someone once said.
Today, I would like to expose you to some fundamental biblical knowledge (truth) to meditate on that will help you understand and know your true self (person). Knowing who you are and whose you are is the key to your rightful position and possessions in the kingdom of God. Your life cannOt be meaningful, happy, satisfying and complete in this world without you fully understanding, from the Bible’s point of view, what God has done for you; what position God has put you and; what possessions you are entitled to as a child of God. God’s children have rights, privileges, favors, and blessings that are not available to everybody. Read the rest of this entry »
Philippians 4:19, “But my God shall supply all my needs according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus”
Most worry is about things that can’t be changed (the past), things that can’t be controlled (the present), things that might not happen (the future).
Have you ever worried about anything lately? What is it that you worried about? How much did your worries do to change the situation positively? Were you better off after you worried than you were before? Read the rest of this entry »
1Samuel 17:46, “THIS DAY the Lord will deliver you into my hand, and I will strike you and take your head from you… that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel”
There is something about “THIS DAY (TODAY)”, which is present tense that has to be addressed otherwise we start dwelling on either yesterday which is past tense or think of tomorrow which is future tense. God has given us today to make good use as we live one day at a time. There is a song we used to sing, “One day at a time sweet Jesus, that’s all I’m asking from you, just give me strength to do every day what I have do, yesterday is gone sweet Jesus, and tomorrow may never be mine, Lord help me today, show me the way one day at a time”. 1Corinthians 6:17, “But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him.”
True religion is not found merely in external duties and acts of devotion. It is not found solely in intellectual understanding, nor in rapturous displays of emotion. These examples can all be faked, many of these are displayed in the most wicked of lives. Just look at the Pharisees. True religion, at its core, is what Paul speaks of here, the life of God in the soul of man. It is a union of the soul with God, a rejoining of the life to Christ through repentance and faith in the cross. Colossians 1:27 says that Christ ‘in’ us is the hope of glory. Luke 9:62 , “And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.”
Have you ever taken a fitness test? I can remember in school having to do a certain amount of push-ups, sit-ups, and various other exercises as part of testing to see if I was physically fit or not. Obviously all people are not physically fit, and in light of this all, are not spiritually fit either. The Apostle Paul wrote to Timothy these words, “For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.” The Apostle was not saying that physical fitness had NO value, but rather it did not have the same value as godliness (spiritual fitness). Isaiah 35:8-10, “8 And a highway will be there; it will be called the Way of Holiness. The unclean will not journey on it; it will be for those who walk in that Way; wicked fools will not go about on it. 9 No lion will be there, nor will any ferocious beast get up on it; they will not be found there. But only the redeemed will walk there, 10 and the ransomed of the LORD will return. They will enter Zion with singing; everlasting joy will crown their heads. Gladness and joy will overtake them, and sorrow and sighing will flee away” Robert Frost wrote, “Two roads diverged in a wood, I took the one less traveled by, and I- And that has made all the difference“.
