Identified With Him, Evans Olang

Hebrews 12:1, “Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance (patience) the race that is set before us

I believe that one of the greatest tests for a Christian is to be identified with Christ and maintain the identity. The moment you are labeled a Christian or identified with Christ, the moment eyes are watching you. To this end it becomes difficult to identify with Christ when your words and actions ado not line up. We live in a world where bad news sells faster than good news and it takes one bad news to override all the good. Read the rest of this entry »

Hands Of War, Pastor Phil Sessa

Psalm 18:34, “He teaches my hands to war, so that a bow of steel is broken by mine arms”.

My dad was one you would call a handy man. If it was broken then my dad would fix it. As a matter of fact he had been known to create very unique ways of fixing things or building things. I recall that he always tried to build things strong and solid to keep things lasting long. However when he was a young boy he didn’t know how to use his hands in this regards, he had to learn it. One moves from not knowing to knowing through learning, and he learned to use his hands from his dad.

His Glory Is Risen Upon You, Evans Olang

Isaiah 60:1, “Arise, shine; For your light has come! and the glory of the Lord is risen upon you”

Three key things to share with us are on the scripture introduced above. When we get saved, it is like a new born baby. The birth of he baby is not the end but the beginning. Often times those some who have been in Christ for a while tend to lose the fire and become regular people meaning everything else is normal. No zeal to grow, no zeal to witness, no zeal to pray effectively, or zeal to even read the word with passion. It’s very easy to lose fruits without knowing, we need to therefore constantly do spiritual evaluation to see where we are. I know of people who used to talk about the Lord strongly, they had such a joy and enthusiasm but something somewhere happened and the zeal began to fade away only to be left with a form of godliness and deny the power.

Secret Blessings Revealed, Part 2of2, Pastor Phil Sessa

Matthew 6:6, “But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you”

In part one of Secret Blessing Revealed, Jesus emphasized that one that gave in secret would be blessed openly. Now He shifts to speaking about secret prayer. Jesus assumes that His disciples would be men given to prayer, but He forbids the prayers of “hypocrites” which means to be an “actor,” placing a mask on one’s face in front of people but taking that mask off behind the scenes. Love Outshines All, Pastor Phil Sessa

Matthew 17:5-8, “5 While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him. 6 And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were sore afraid. 7 And Jesus came and touched them, and said, Arise, and be not afraid. 8 And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save Jesus only”

In 1999 I had the privilege of going to visit the Holy Land. As we traveled around the places that Jesus had once stepped, I noticed that wherever Jesus did something significant, a church was built to commemorate the act. Read the rest of this entry »

A Troubled Herod, Wise Magi, And A Triumphant Christ, Pastor Phil Sessa

Matthew 2:2-3, “When Herod the king heard this, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him and assembling all the chief priests and scribes of the people, he inquired of them where the Christ was to be born.”

When I read this verse what troubled me was what would cause Herod and all Jerusalem with him to be troubled? To answer that we have to look at a few aspects including who Herod was, how he came to rule, and how the Magi were connected to all of this all during the perfect timing of the birth of God’s Son.
