Book of Judges
2Chronicles 15:1-19, “2 And he went out to meet Asa, and said to him: “Hear me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin. The LORD is with you while you are with Him. If you seek Him, He will be found by you; but if you forsake Him, He will forsake you. 3 For a long time Israel has been without the true God, without a teaching priest, and without law; 4 but when in their trouble they turned to the LORD God of Israel, and sought Him, He was found by them.”
To grasp and understand the words of the prophet to Asa after God gave them great victory over Ethiopian in the previous chapter, we journey backwards to the book of Judges. In the last chapter as demonstrated in the last message, Asa had “Confidence in God”, the next chapter was to learn of the blessings that come about in the lives of those “Abiding in God”. The Book of Judges is a tragic account of how Yahweh [God] was taken for granted by His children year after year. Judges is a sad contrast to the book of Joshua which chronicles the blessings God bestowed on the Israelites for their obedience in conquering the land. In Judges, they were disobedient and idolatrous, leading to their many defeats.
