Like A Deer…, Sarah Susan

Psalms 42:1, “As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God, My soul thirsts for God, the living God, When can I go and meet with God?”

There are some specific animals in the bible with some characteristics that are symbolic to a message it’s passing across and for us to learn and to relate to. We hear about the Lamb of God, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, The righteous are as bold as a lion, a dove descending on Jesus as a sign of the Holy Spirit, etc. Let’s talk about deer and it’s characteristics that applies to us. A Covenant Made With My Eyes, Evans Olang

Job 31:1, “I made a covenant with my eyes, not to look lustfully at a girl” NIV

One thing that scares me daily is the thought that I have the ability to sin and sin is constantly knocking on my door. I usually joke about two things I’m allergic to, sin and pain. There are no two things I can think of that have destroyed many men of God like sexual sin and greed. This continues to plague men daily in a sexually charged world and a world of greed. In the age of Internet, TV, movies, magazines, beaches, dressings etc. all around has created a challenge for men and some women in generral, something we call “every man’s battle”. I think that the level of temptations faced by David, Solomon, Samson and others in the past cannot be compared to what we face today and yet the standard of God’s purity for man has not changed and never will. It’s easy to try and poke holes in God’s word to find something to justify sin, however we need to always remember, God’s word is truth, He has no revised edition to fit our time. The word was set to address everything in any age. God’s still holds us to the highest standard revealed in the Holy Scriptures. Read the rest of this entry »

Biblical Manhood, Part 1of4, Pastor Phil Sessa

1Corinthians 16:13-14, “13 Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong. 14 Let all that you do be done in love”

Society is ever so confused about the identity and the role of men in this day and age. At one time it would seem, they were to only provide for the family, and be strong and rugged individuals. Women were to be at home and submissive to their husbands. Now society seems to want to reverse the roles and identities of the two genders, and desires men to be more feminine, and women to be more masculine with the ungodly women’s liberation movement. In order to look at this issue through the lens of truth, one cannot look through the ever changing winds of this confused society, but rather to the unchanging truth of God’s Word. With that said look at the final instructions Paul wrote to the Corinthian church in his first letter to them. Read the rest of this entry »

Gold Tried By Fire, Evans Olang

Job 13:15, “Though He slay me yet I will trust Him, I will maintain mine own ways before Him”. Job 23:10, “He knows the way that I take, after He has tried me, I shall come forth as gold”.

There are things I tend to battle. I fear conflicts, adversities, rejection, failure. Are you anything like me in this? I don’t like being in positions of not knowing what to do. I get frustrated when I miss seeing something someone else sees and points it out. If they happen frequently, I feel even more frustrated. If I did something the wrong way, it might be costly to make it right. Read the rest of this entry »

My Redeemer Lives, By Evans Olang

Job 19:25, “For I know that my Redeemer lives; And He shall stand at the last on the earth”

We need to be aware of is that as we walk with God we are reminded that He owes us nothing. I know of people who walk and talk as though God owes them something, it’s like they gave God something to keep, or they did God a favor and now God owes them and should pay them back. God owes you nothing, as a matter of fact, you owe it all to Him. Read the rest of this entry »
