Casting Down Imaginations, Evans Olang

2Corinthians 10:5, “Casting down imaginations and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ”

Have you seen on TV “Police chase videos”. It’s interesting to watch and sad at the same time. People trying to run away from the law because of what they have done. Instead of surrendering peacefully, they think they can outrun the law. The more they try to, the more they break other laws making it worse for them. You find that they are exposing other people to great danger by their reckless behaviors. Something fascinating, the police will not give up chasing until they have apprehended the suspects. It doesn’t matter how long it takes, they will add more force to the chase if need be until they’ve arrested the culprits. Let’s swing this to the spiritual. Biblical Manhood, Part 1of4, Pastor Phil Sessa

1Corinthians 16:13-14, “13 Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong. 14 Let all that you do be done in love”

Society is ever so confused about the identity and the role of men in this day and age. At one time it would seem, they were to only provide for the family, and be strong and rugged individuals. Women were to be at home and submissive to their husbands. Now society seems to want to reverse the roles and identities of the two genders, and desires men to be more feminine, and women to be more masculine with the ungodly women’s liberation movement. In order to look at this issue through the lens of truth, one cannot look through the ever changing winds of this confused society, but rather to the unchanging truth of God’s Word. With that said look at the final instructions Paul wrote to the Corinthian church in his first letter to them. Continue reading “Biblical Manhood, Part 1of4, Pastor Phil Sessa”

I Am Not Dead Yet, Part 2of2, Evans Olang

2Kings 7:1-20, “And there were four leprous men at the entering in of the gate: and they said one to another, why sit we here until we die?”

And the four leprous men reasoned and moved, vs. 5-6″And when they were come to the uttermost part of the camp of Syria, behold, there was no man there. For the Lord had made the host of the Syrians to hear a noise of Chariots, even the noise of horses, even the noise of great host: and they said one to another, Lo, King if Israel has hired against us the kings of Hittites, and the kings of the Egyptians, to come upon us”. When these men moved, God took over. Continue reading “I Am Not Dead Yet, Part 2of2, Evans Olang”

A Resurrection Of Offense, Pastor Phil Sessa

John 12:9-11, “9 Much people of the Jews therefore knew that he was there: and they came not for Jesus’ sake only, but that they might see Lazarus also, whom he had raised from the dead. 10 But the chief priests consulted that they might put Lazarus also to death; 11 Because that by reason of him many of the Jews went away, and believed on Jesus”

A pastor saw a young lady in his church after a summer time of her being away. Upon coming back from her vacation, the pastor noticed that her stomach was quite large. He thought that her and her husband were obviously going to have a baby and therefore said, “You’re starting to show.” However she replied, “I’m not pregnant”. Needless to say the woman was very offended, in which time that the Pastor said, “I’m sorry, I’ll perhaps need you to forgive me seventy times seven for that one insensitive comment.” Continue reading “A Resurrection Of Offense, Pastor Phil Sessa”

The Sure Foundation Is Christ, Part 2of2, Evans Olang

1Corinthians 3:1-23, vs. “11 For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ” NIV

We defined foundation and looked at how possible it is to look at men’s foundation rather than God’s foundation. At Corinth, Paul had laid a good foundation “Jesus Christ and Him crucified“, instead of them building on THIS foundation, they started trying to redefine it which moved them from the spiritual growth to become carnal minded. Thank God that Paul came back to correct their understanding and thank God He is correcting the understanding of those who missed it. The Sure Foundation Is Christ, Part 1of2, Evans Olang

1Corinthians 3:1-23, vs. “11 For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ” NIV

Foundation is the defining moment if anything is expected to succeed. The process and the outcome is traced back to the foundation. How the foundation is laid will determine the basis on which things will stand. Foundation defines what we are made off. Parents try to lay a foundation for their children; husbands and wives try to establish a foundation for their marriage; and are churches, corporations, schools etc. If the foundation is wrong, anything built on it may be crooked, may not survive for long and is very dangerous. This is the whole reason builders take time to lay strong proper foundation. From looking at how foundations are laid especially in buildings, it has to go down first before it comes up. Whoever Believes, Benjamen Leahey

John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

I would like to share with you this morning about the word ‘believes.’ I pray you will read with an open heart, I pray a desire and hunger will be awakened within someone this morning for more of God, to go on to the fullness prepared for each of us in Christ as we walk by faith. An Interrupted Life, Evans Olang

Isaiah 6:5, “So I said: “ Woe is me, for I am undone! …”

Growth is a challenge Christians face on a day to day basis. Not only in the life of a Christian but even in business, in the home, in church. No one wants to run a business that is not growing and healthy. A parent would get worried if their child was not showing signs of growth physically, mentally and the like. No one wants to be associated with something that is a stagnant, yet in the realm of our Christian walk, it’s easy at times to be stagnant and lukewarm. Some are stagnant by choice and others don’t allow things and people to challenge their walk that would cause them to grow. I believe growth takes place in an environment where there is a challenge. Who Is In Control? Evans Olang

Luke 22:30-32, “31 And the Lord said, “Simon, Simon! Indeed, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat. 32 But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren.”

A true worshiper of God constantly hungers to walk in His will. We often wrestle to know if we are acting in the flesh or led of the Spirit. We want to know who is standing on our way, God or Satan. We want to know who is in control. Many times we blame Satan, (give him too much credit) when things are not going right we read his mission, John 10:10, “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy…” His mission is not news to us, but is he the main issue?
