2Samuel 10:11-12, “11 And he said, If the Syrians be too strong for me, then thou shalt help me: but if the children of Ammon be too strong for thee, then I will come and help thee. 12 Be of good courage, and let us play the men for our people, and for the cities of our God: may the Lord do what seems good to Him (KJV and ESV combined)”

When you look at most men on TV sitcoms, the men are portrayed as a bumbling fool, unfit household leader, the brunt of the family jokes, the one most highly dishonored, one that has no influence over his children, and subservient to his wife. Ephesians 1:17, “that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him,”

If you are anything like me, you love for certain people to be praying for you. Not because of the eloquence of their prayers or having more power, but the content, the richness of their prayers. In this book, I would have loved to have Paul praying for me because of the content, the depth of the prayers that reminds me of the resources I have in Christ. Read the rest of this entry »

Ephesians 1:18,” the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling…”

Paul prayed 2. “for understanding that believers would know the hope of His calling”. It is with these alone that we discern the things of God. Being first opened, and then enlightened – by His Spirit. How easy it is to lose hope when you forget who is on board and who called you.
