2Kings 5:20, vs. “20 Gehazi, the servant of Elisha the man of God, said to himself, “My master was too easy on Naaman, this Aramean, by not accepting from him what he brought. As surely as the LORD lives, I will run after him and get something from him.” (NIV)

One of the things that drowned the economy was greed, an excessive desire to acquire or possess more than what one needs or deserves, especially with respect to material wealth (possession) and there are believers who got caught up in the same things.

Let’s see how Gehazi’s untamed passion destroyed his life. The first mistake he made, he desired what his master let go and ran after Namaan to get something for himself. Two, he lied on his master the Prophet, vs. 22, “And he said, “All is well. My master has sent me, saying, ‘Indeed, just now two young men of the sons of the prophets have come to me from the mountains of Ephraim. Please give them a talent of silver and two changes of garments.” To use someone’s name to get things or get a head is deadly, it tarnishes your reputation and integrity, also opens doors to destroy other peoples’ lives. Who wants to work with a big liar?

When Ambitions Cloud Your Judgment, Part 1of2, Evans Olang

1Timothy 6:10, “For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil”, Ecclesiastes 10:19, “A feast is made for laughter, And wine makes merry; But money answers everything”

A message commonly preached especially on TV is the message on prosperity. Who doesn’t want to be blessed financially? Rarely do I share along these lines, it’s not my priority message but I believe God blesses His people and uses these blessing to further His kingdom too.

When Ambitions Cloud Your Judgment, Part 2of2, Evans Olang

1Kings 21:1-21, vs. “15 And it came to pass, when Jezebel heard that Naboth had been stoned and was dead, that Jezebel said to Ahab, “Arise, take possession of the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite, which he refused to give you for money; for Naboth is not alive, but dead.” 16 So it was, when Ahab heard that Naboth was dead, that Ahab got up and went down to take possession of the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite”.

In reading this story, something that might have started very small and very innocent snow balled to something big because of Ahab’s ambition that clouded his judgment, to the extent that he would not restrain his wife from doing wicked. Then his next actions after what happened indicates he approved what was done.
