Romans Chapter 1 Study, Part 10of12, Evans Olang

Posted on Updated on

Romans 1:1-31, “16 I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. 17 For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.”

As we continue to work our way backwards, we briefly touch on vs. 18. Men’s hearts have been hardened as they suppress the truth in unrighteousness, the soil of their heart is rigid. For this reason vs. 18 says , “ For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness”. This is the bad news for all sinners, however this bad news highlights the good news. The bad news gives the good news such great weight. Without the bad news, the good news makes no sense.

What God commands in the LAW, perfection, is what He has provided in the Gospel, GRACE. Christ satisfied the demands of the Law for us that we might become the righteousness of God. The Law giver was the Law keeper and the Law satisfier for the Law breakers.

The gospel Paul once labored to destroy is the same gospel he was later propelled to preach, he says “Romans 1:16,” 16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ”. This is the gospel that saved him and in it he believed the power of God lied to save. In 1 Timothy 1:15, “This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief”.

Christless Christianity, Pastor Phil Sessa and Pastor Dave

Colossians 2:6,8,9,”As you have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in Him beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily. And you are complete in Him”

The title of this devotion almost doesn’t make sense. How can you have Christianity without Christ. That is like having the sun without light. Yet listen to the words of General William Booth Founder Salvation Army as he stated “The chief danger of the 20th century will be… Read the rest of this entry »

Got Fruit? Pastor Phil Sessa

“I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing”,John 15:5

When looking in the Old Testament, God often portrayed and compared Israel to a vineyard. This can be seen in passages such as Isa. 5:7, and in Jer. 2 whereby God rebukes Israel, which Jesus uses indeed as a backdrop here in John 15. Read the rest of this entry »

Our sufficiency Is From God, Evans Olang

2Corinthians 3:4-6, “4 And we have such trust through Christ toward God. 5 Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as being from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God, 6 who also made us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life”

The battle we all have is where does our sufficiency come from? It is easy to say your sufficiency comes from Christ however your talk and actions may suggest different. Sufficiency simply means adequate or enough to meet a purpose. Is Christ adequate and enough or do we look to other places? Read the rest of this entry »

2Peter 2: Beware Of Toxic Gospel, 1of7, Evans Olang

2Peter 2:1-22, “vs. 1 But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction. 2 And many will follow their destructive ways, because of whom the way of truth will be blasphemed. 3 By covetousness they will exploit you with deceptive words; for a long time their judgment has not been idle, and their destruction does not slumber

A few months ago I was reading and meditating on 2Peter 2 which deals with false prophets and false teachers in detail and I began to pen a series of messages off it. The more I read, the more I became burdened.

I was led as I am from time to time to address the subject of biblical discernment. Then around that time I was handed an account to work on only to find that it was an account of two ministers I would call false teachers with a very expensive private jet worth millions.
