Blessings Are Powerful, Evans Olang

Mathew 23:39, “…Blessed is He that comes in the name of the Lord”

We all crave for blessings because blessings are very powerful. Blessings are signs of approval from someone you value their approval. For example, Kids want their parents to approve the relationships they are in and bless it. Esau was destined to receive his father’s blessings but his brother pretended to be him and took it away. Esau upon hearing his lost opportunity for a blessing, “… he cried with an exceedingly great and bitter cry, and said to his father, “Bless me—me also, O my father!”“, Genesis 27:34.Throught the bible you read of fathers blessing their children based on how they lived their lives. Blessings are very powerful!!!.

Why blessings? because blessings promote or contributes to the wellbeing of a person, it’s a sign of approval. Blessings come with guidelines if we follow them. The fifth commandment is the only commandment with a promise, Exodus 20:5, “Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the Lord your God”, sadly it’s commonly broken because a number have never learnt to honor their parents. God has destined this to be one means by which kids are blessed. Why do we have a generation that is into rebellion and we hear lives end young. I am convinced many people have denied the parents the honor God has set aside for them for this reason most have missed their blessings and heaped upon them curses. We cry, “Lord bless me” but greater blessings begin by keeping this promise. I know not of any parents who deserve such kind of honor due to what they did or failed to do. We honor them because God says so and not because they deserve it. This ought to be taught to all. Proverbs 20:20, “whoever curses his father or his mother, His lamp will be put out in deep darkness”. We could curse them by failing to honor them and therefore we are storing curses for ourselves, Proverbs 30:11, “There is a generation that curses their father, and does not bless their mother” and we live in that generation.

Everyone has a chance to be blessed and the blessings will come when we do what the Lord would have us do. Deuteronomy 28:1&2, “Now it shall come to pass, if you diligently obey the voice of the LORD your God, to observe carefully all His commandments which I command you today, that the LORD your God will set you high above all nations of the earth. 2 And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the LORD your God: “. This shows that we can bring curses (forfeit) ourselves by not heeding to keep God’s commandments, His Word. We cannot expect to be blessed if we violate the principles of His word

While we obey, doors of blessings will open and overtake us and we will turn the blessings back to God inform of praises. The bible says, “Blessed is He that comes in the name of the Lord“, the only way you and I can come is because we value the commandments and we desire to keep them. Bless me-me also, O my Father. Make me also a blessing to others starting with my parents. Blessings Ev
