Isaiah 6:1-9, “In the year king Uzziah died, I saw the Lord…”
Vs. 5, “So I said: Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a man of unclean lips, And I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts”. As we said in part 1, you will never see who you really are until you see who He really is. His holiness raises a standard for us and not men. I know that when God is bringing you to a place where He can reveal to you who you really are, He will bring you to a place where it’s one on one. He did the same with Jacob, Moses, Abraham, Mary the mother of Jesus to mention a few. Over and over again I see the Lord eliminating everything that is distracting and letting you be in a place where you concentrate on what He is showing you.
God revealed Himself to Isaiah not in front of everyone. And Isaiah’s words were, “woe is me, for I am undone“, in other words “distressed is me for I am incomplete“, It wasn’t “woe they are not complete” neither was it “woe we are not complete“, he personalized it. “It’s me who needs work, it’s me still under construction”. I wish I could wear a sign on my back saying, “Be patient with me, I’m still under construction“. Why I’m I man of unclean lips? what has been harbored inside is manifested through the mouth and actions. If I had thought that everyone else was not good enough, eventually that will be manifested outside through my mouth. To make it even interesting, Isaiah also realizes that there are people who have been like him, proclaiming self-righteousness and have been ignorant of it. He has a new vision of who he is and who God is but how about the rest? He had seen the King to know that He was not where he needed to be. Here is something that turns many people away when they come to God, they think God will just take over from where they left. God first shows you how far you’ve missed the mark, strips you of self-righteousness and when your mouth is stopped, then He cleanses you, takes all the guilt and shame away and Romans 8:1 becomes your pillar, “There is therefore no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus…”
One of the seraphim flew with live coal and touched his mouth saying, vs. 7, “…Behold, this has touched your lips; Your iniquity is taken away and your sin is purged“, if I am under construction, I need all the help I can get. My sins taken away, my joy restored, my peace upgraded because I still have a journey to make, a race to run, a mountain to climb, a valley to pass through, battles to fight. If we are not complete yet, then we are not there yet. Of all we have talked about revolves around a man under construction.
Vs. 8, “Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: “Whom shall I send and who will go for Us?”, then I said, “Here am I! send me”. Here is the work of the saints, not to sit and enjoy but be ready to be sent out. The working in him propelled him to see that the people he was living among were deceiving themselves just as he was thinking they were fine while they were not. 1John 1:8, “If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us“, how many deceive themselves everyday thinking that their life style is okay? How many establish their own righteousness being ignorant of the righteousness of God? who will point them to the truth? Isaiah did not want to receive a revelation, be changed and be comfortable. What he saw rocked his world that when the Lord was looking for someone to send, he responded to the call.
Isaiah carried a message of both hope and judgment. He described and predicted the coming of the Messiah: Jesus Christ. We too are carrying a message of hope and judgment and proclaiming the second coming of the Lord. Have you responded to His call in your life or are you okay with the fact that you are going to heaven? do you feel you are there yet or are you still journeying? Are you under construction or is your house complete? Are you establishing your own righteousness and not that of God? Has He touched your mouth with live coal and taken your iniquity away? my message is simple today, “WE ARE NOT THERE YET!!” Blessings Evans
