Prevention Is Better Than Cure, Evans Olang

2Corinthians 10:4-5, “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ”

It is better to try to keep a bad thing from happening than fix it once it has happened. And I will apply this to dealing with demonic forces, satanic oppressions. Anyone who is vulnerable is setting him or herself as an easy target for the enemy. Why be an easy target then try and deal with them after they come in? It’s hard to empty a boat that is being filled with water due to holes in that boat.

The bible says in 2Corinthians 10:3, “For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh”, it’s clear we are at war, spiritual war daily. The enemy is not at rest neither should we. The question then is, what is the strategy to overcome the enemy of our soul, vs. 4 tells us, “4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ”, our weapon is the truth of God’s word, 1. It pulls down strongholds (fortified) places where His word is trying to reach, 2. It casts down imaginations (made up thoughts) and every high thing that tries to arise above the knowledge of God, (things the enemy elevates above God’s word), we see this in the garden of Eden where he tells Eve to doubt God’s word 3. It brings every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ (submission). Jesus used the truth of His word cast down imaginations in the dessert. “…the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; also 18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints”, Ephesians 6:16-18. The more you are in the word, in prayer and doing the work of the Lord, the less you become vulnerable to yielding to the enemy. His strategy is to tempt the elect to drop down their weapons and surrender. I would rather have prevention measure than cure.

A Scriptural expectation of victory, will purify the soul, and keep it from being defiled by Satan. It subdues and mortifies evil desires and blasphemous thoughts as they rise within; and answers unbelief and error as they assault from without. A single text, well understood, and rightly applied, at once destroys a temptation or an objection, and subdues the most formidable adversary. Prayer calls for submission as you cannot resist without first submitting, James 4:6, “Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you” . The bible will keep you from sin and sin will keep you from the bible. We must fasten all the other parts of our Christian armor if we are to be overcomer. If you are not in submission to the Lord in word, in prayers, in serving Him, you can chase the devil all you want only to be defeated. You can gain victory after attack but remember, cure may leave scars. Why not act on preventive measures today. Blessings Ev
