Prove Before Executing, Evans Olang

Romans 12:2, “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God”

Anything that we do most of the time does not just affect a day but days to come. The more reason we need to be careful about what we plant in our lives for sooner or later, we will look back and see why it was good or bad to plant some things. Let me share briefly on three things I call CCD. These are CHOICES, CHANGES and DECISIONS. We are what we are because of the choices, changes and decisions we make.

According to thesaurus, Choices are options, alternatives, selection, preference and pick. We can see that choices are not one thing or one plan; they are many things that give you and me a chance to pick from. Choosing is preferring one thing or a person over another. This is my theory; choices tend to start from the beginning where you choose what direction to take. The choices you and I make today will have the ability to affect our tomorrow. People choose based on the surrounding, situation, peers, the present and even more. Everyone has to make some type of choices in their lives, choosing who to marry, what kind of job you desire, what kind of house you want to live in etc.

Change on the other hand is to alter, modify, vary, transform, revolutionize, adjust or amend. No one can say that they have no ability to change. There are two types of changes, the change that occurs in a person and the change a person makes. Change is as vital as Choice is only that Change allows you to improve a Choice made. The change can be big or small but everyone can see its significance. Changing your community begins with changes inside out to put aside what you don’t normally do and begin to develop a mindset of desiring to do it anyway, making it better. The change is not supposed to make it worse but better. Couples ought to change inside to make their marriages better and then using their change inside to change, perfect, revolutionize their marriage. Anyone who is not desiring to change is not ready for progress.

Last but not least, “Decisions”. Decisions sound like choices and it is, but I look at choices as the beginning before anything happens. Decisions are made in the middle of something and now a mind has to be made up. Decisions is making judgment, assessing the situation and making a resolution to it.

All these three have one thing in common, they improve. Paul writes to the Romans and he is giving them guidelines to help them exercise these three things. One, “Do not be conformed to this world”, meaning do not try and copy the life style of this world to effectively bring these three to life because the world has set its standard on how to view them. Second, “But be transformed by the renewing of your mind“, Choices, changes and decisions are not made on emotions as many do; they are based on clear minds. It’s easy to do things without thinking and it affects us in the long run, but when our minds are renewed, they become in tune with our hearts, and with that we are ready to progress. “That you may prove what is that good and acceptable“, the three has to be approved. Example, when manufacturers build anything, they are not quick to bring it to the market. They test, prove, asses it to make sure it works well. They do not just look at what it can do today, they look at how long it will last, can it be effective, will it serve the purpose and so is with Christians, we have to prove what is that good, but by whose standards? Men’s or God’s? God’s standards are acceptable because they are based on His perfect will.

We can make Choices, Changes and Decisions based on what is proved to be good and acceptable and perfect will of God. What choices are you making today? what changes have you purposed to make? What decisions do you have to make? Have you proved them to know that they are good and acceptable and are in line with His perfect will? Prove Before Executing, blessings Ev
