Psalm 103:1-2, “1 Bless the LORD, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name! 2 Bless the LORD, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits:”
To God be the glory great things He has done. He is worthy to be praised, He redeemed our lives from destruction. One woman who had been delivered by Jesus, at one point brought in an alabaster box full of precious oil. She broke the box and out of it came precious oil with fragrance filing the room. She took that which was precious to her to wash Jesus’ feet wiping His feet with her hair. I see a woman blessing the Lord, she is taking that which is precious and giving it back to God what belongs to Him. She is sacrificing and doing what is right and not everyone is happy about it especially Judas Iscariot.
We are blessed to know that we can offer back to God what He requires, worship. I know that we are used to being on the receiving end, but let’s begin to bless the Lord commanding every fiber of our being to acknowledge that He deserves our worship. Psalm 150:6, “Let everything that has breath praise the Lord” We choose to bless the Lord this day, Psalm 34:1, “I will bless the Lord at all times, His praise shall continually be in my mouth”.
We don’t bless Him because we have it, we bless Him because He deserves it. Blessing the Lord is not reserved for special occasions, He deserves to be blessed at all times just as we don’t except to receive blessings on special occasions. Bless Him in the morning, at noon time, in the evening, all night long. The Psalmist in our text begins by blessing the Lord, giving God back what He requires of us which is worship. He understands that the moment he begins to give this service, not every part of his body will comply with his desire, but if he can get his soul to begin, the soul has a way of affecting his entire being. This is why the Lord deals with the heart first before dealing with the body and mind. If the heart is touched, the heart is in a position to affect the mind and the body. With our hearts, we bless His holy name for He is holy.
As we bless the Lord, we are reminded of the benefits bestowed upon us. There is a great difference between the benefits and the benefactor for there can be no benefits without the existence of a benefactor. It’s in our process of worshipping God that we are reminded of His benefits. Today I will touch on the benefit of healing (Who heals all thy diseases). Healing is a benefit from the Lord, a benefit that came with salvation package. Salvation is the main thing just like applying for a job, the job is the main thing but besides the main thing, there are benefits to go with it. Not only does healing become a benefit, we are told that He heals all our diseases. If He said some, then we will dig in further to find out which ones are covered in the benefit but when He said all, it’s an indication that there is no sickness that cannot be handled by God. Isaiah 53:5, “He was wounded for my transgressions, He was bruised for my iniquities, the chastisement of our peace was upon Him and by His stripes we are healed”. He was beaten that I may be saved and not just saved but healed also from all my diseases. He says, “I am the Lord that heals you, I sent forth my word and it healed all your diseases for there is nothing too difficult for Me”.
Since the year started, we have heard cases of people sick and we’ve been praying for them. You might be sick in your body this morning or someone whom you know is sick, know that sickness is not from the Lord, it’s from the devil. You might have this thought that sickness could be coming in as a punishment for sin from the Lord, well God is not the author of evil but good, He may allow but He will not start it. We have a chance to bless the Lord, remember His benefits and call on Him to bring them to pass according to His will. He is a God of restoration Joel 2:25, “And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten…”, God will restore health in the days, weeks, months, years that the enemy has brought sickness in your life and loved ones. The word restoration is to bring back to its original state before losing anything. Some people’s health need to be restored, you may be having a cold, asthma, stomach pain, chest pains, back pains, cancer, kidney problems and you name it. God is able to restore back your health because that is His benefit for us. Ephesians 3:20, “Now unto Him who is able to do exceeding, abundantly, above all we ask or imagine according to the power that works in us”. Let God be God in your situation and may He receive glory for being God in your needs. Healing is a benefit, why not trust God to move in your situation according to His written will? Have a blessed day full of healing. Blessings Ev
It’s past time that we should get back to believing and trusting the Lord Jesus Christ at his word. So many are sick in the Body of Christ, and suffering needlessly. Praise God there are those who are teaching about the Lord Jesus desire to heal. It is all there in his precious Word. Let us read and understand, and then appropriate this gift for ourselves and our loved ones and brethren. But…we must have or aquire the necessary faith to lay hold on it.
He, the Lord Jesus could do no mighty works in his own country because of their unbelief. And so, these apparently continued on in their suffering. How sad.
