Judges 6:11-40&7:1-25, “…The Lord is with you, you mighty man of valor”
We looked Gideon’s response to the Angel of the Lord when He appeared to him and said, “The Lord is with you” . It did not make sense to him having suffered for a while. He did not see how the Lord could have possibly been with him, and I agreed with Gideon at one point until I looked deeper and realized the Lord was with him the whole time, otherwise worse things could have happened to him had it not been for God’s hands protecting him. We said, where we are going doubt, fear, un answered questions cannot come with us, they are a hindrances to God’s move.
Judges 6:12, “… you mighty man of valor“. The Lord called Gideon a might man of valor in the midst of his well versed history. He was like a little boy hiding himself from harm’s way not imagining himself as a mighty man for valor. Your past history is not a mystery to God, He is not even moved an inch by who you used to be, He knows your history. If He was concerned of your past, He would have killed you after He saved you. When you did not even know Him, He protected you, you could have died in that hospital bed, you could been crushed in that car accident, many things could have happened but He kept you. We are not better than those who have not made it this far. This is the favor of the Lord for when we were not, then we were because of what He did on the cross. If He cared for us when we did not know Him, how much more will He care for those who know Him and are His? If God needed someone else, He could have gone after them, but down in your need, in pain, in a state of confusion He revealed Himself. God is not a respecter of any man and that’s why in 1Corinthians 1:27-29, “But God has chosen the foolish things of this world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of this world to put to shame the things which are mighty; and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are, that no flesh should glory in His presence”.
I was never chosen because I was eloquent, strong and educated, I was chosen in midst fears and weakness and so were you. Romans 8:30, “Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these also He justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified”. Moreover whom He predestined which means He preordained to which I would also interpret as He pre approved their destiny, and why pre? because God has approved people’s destiny and for the people to get to their destiny, they have got to be willing to get there (human response). This is no different in setting a table with food before someone, you don’t force them to eat, all you do is set a table before them. Isaiah 1:19, “If you be willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land”. The Lord will not force anyone to their destiny, He will reveal His plan and then you have to be willing to move. This is where faith comes is Hebrews 11:1, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen”, it’s not the Lord hoping but we His people. So the people He predestined, He also called and those He called, He also justified, Justify here could also mean qualified for we failed the qualifying test from day one but He still qualified us anyway in Christ Jesus. Those He justified (qualified), He also glorified which I would say He talked highly off, exalted. 1Peter 5:6, “Humble yourself under the mighty hand of God that He may exalt you in due season” Mark the word HE MAYnot I MAY. God will exalt you in due season. God did not CTQ (Call The Qualified), He QTC (Qualified The Called)
The Angel calls him Mighty man of Valor because He was not done with him. This is not an indication that God needed Gideon but rather, God chose to magnify Himself through Gideon. The Lord was going to draw out of Gideon hidden potentials He had been reserving for a time Israel needed them the most. If you thought this was it, wait till the Lord reveals the potentials He put on reserve. Under the winepress was your hiding place from your enemies, however with your new birth, new call, you have to be willing to change and move as He instructs. To continue, blessings Ev
