1Kings 18:41-45, “Then it came to pass the seventh time, that he said, “There is a cloud, as small as a man’s hand, rising out of the sea!” So he said, “Go up, say to Ahab, ‘Prepare your chariot, and go down before the rain stops you.’”
God answers prayers, I am a firm believer of that, He amazes me as to how He does answer prayers. If you are going to expect a miracle from God, don’t be surprised if He does it in a way you never imagined. He is a God of surprises therefore you have to know HIS WAYS to know when He is moving. The bible says in Psalm 103:7, “He made known His ways to Moses, His acts to the children of Israel”. Many only rejoice in the acts of God and that is okay but knowing His acts limits you to understanding how He does things. Moses was not frustrated when God was not acting, He knew God’s ways to know how and when God would move. When you know God’s ways, even if He does not act, you can see why He hasn’t acted and you can see what He is doing in your life as he prepares you for the miracle. The Potter can only make a jar because He has something to put in it. How will a broken leaking jar hold anything poured into it? If your jar is leaking, if He was to pour that miracle in you, it will definitely leak out. That was the problem with the Israelites, they were leaking vessels always needing an act of God to keep them going. When the miracle leaked out, they cried some more. Are we not like that many times praying for miracles when our jars are leaking? I would rather know His ways than His acts.
Elijah has just prayed calling on heaven and instantly God answered him by fire in vs. 38. What an instant miracle, God answering by fire what He had prayed. I have had those moments when I prayed and instantly God granted my request. Then moving to vs. 41, Elijah operates by faith, he tells king Ahab, “Go up, eat and drink; for there is the sound of abundance of rain”. Was there a great sound of rain? I don’t think so because as you read, Elijah sent his servant to go up and look toward the sea. Six times he was sent to check and six times he came back to tell Elijah there is nothing. Thinking of this servant, he had seen Elijah call fire from heaven and it fell immediately, how come another miracle is taking forever to be manifested? I believe the servant must have gotten tired and frustrated running back and forth. Meanwhile, Elijah was cool, calm and collected because He knew the ways of God. He understood God was is in control and though it had not happened as he had prophesied, he could visualize in his spirit and embrace it. With that he was not getting frustrated, he was patient. When God promises, I don’t want to concentrate much on the timing for the promise to be fulfilled, I want to embrace the truth that He has promised. And according to His ways, “He is not a man that He should lie”. Learning His ways will cause you to keep checking, keep praying, keep knocking, and keep seeking because He has shown you what He wants to do in your life.
1Kings 18:44, “Then it came to pass the seventh time, that he said, “There is a cloud, as small as a man’s hand, rising out of the sea!” Elijah sent his servant for the seventh time and finally he saw a small cloud as a man’s hand, rising out of the sea. The miracle of fire happened instantly and big, the next miracle required patience and when it was revealed, it appeared very small. Can you imagine the servant thinking, “I’ve been running back and forth for something this small”? Do you realize that there are times we dismiss miracles God is performing in our lives because they look small? We expected something big and all that appeared was a small cloud as a man’s hand. What we failed to understand was that, abundance tends to start small. The reason the bible says, “do not despise the days of humble (miracles) beginnings”. Knowing God’s ways will teach you to see miracles begin even in small scales. The miracle life of a baby begins long before he or she is born. In conclusion, knowing God’s ways will help you live a fulfilled life knowing miracles can be instantly or could take long (days, weeks, months, years). If He has conceived the promise in your spirit, be sure he will birth it in His time, don’t abort. Blessings Ev
