The Lord Is With Us, Part 1of5, Evans Olang

2Kings 6:8-23, “And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them”

Our God is a great God, something we need not to forget. He knows how to battle His enemies in the battlefield. He does not fight according to men’s ways but His. There are days He battles for us and there are days He equips and teaches us to battle. Many times we may not be prepared for the battle but He is. We may be caught unaware, He is always aware. Psalm 46:1, “…He is a very PRESENT help in trouble”.

Elisha in our text was a prophet of God and not a warrior. I’m positive he even knew how to use an arrow but he was feared of men in every land. In this text we see him as a prophet in Israel especially a time Syria and Israel were at war. What made a difference in Israel is that God was on their side which made Syria fear Israel greatly. Now I understand why Moses would not go anywhere without the presence of God, Exodus 33:14. God had made a covenant with Israel that He would fight and defend them. He would go before them by day as a cloud of wind and by night as a pillar of fire. Everywhere they went, they concurred lands because God was with them. Can you imagine everywhere you go and everything you deal with, your enemies become subject to you simply because the presence of God in you? I believe that I can go anywhere, be anyone God wants me to be and survive anything as long as His presence goes with me for without Him, I can do nothing, John 15:5.

We completely trust and submit ourselves to God’s sovereign will for His presence to accompany us everywhere we go; He is Lord of our lives. The bible says in Psalm 37:23, “The good steps of a righteous man are ordered of the Lord.” How can one order our steps and direct our paths if He is not with us? We constantly need to seek His presence that we may overcome, Proverbs 3:5-8, ” Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. 7 Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the LORD and depart from evil. 8 It will be health to your flesh, And strength to your bones. ”

Moses could only deliver the children of Israel because the presence of God was with him. He was not a warrior, he did not have an army, all he had was a rod of a shepherd and the Lord. That is all God needed to deliver the Israelites from their enemies. If you are ever going to do the impossible, it will happen because the Lord is with you. To continue, blessings Ev
