Blessed Because Of His Presence, Evans Olang

1Chronicles 13:14, “The ARK of God remained with the family of Obed-Edom in his house three months. And the Lord blessed the house of Obed-Edom and all that he had”

David while he had a high position thought he could do things his way including handling the things of God. Our position should not dictate how we handle the things of God, our obedience through submission is what opens doors for His blessings. We can gain positions without letting positions steal the presence of God by starting in the Spirit and staying in the Spirit regardless of whether we have positions or not. Positions are temporal but God’s presence is eternal whether in our lives or not.

It happened that as David and his men were bringing the ARK of the covenant home, he did not follow the proper procedure of handling the ARK. The Levites were the priests chosen to carry the ARK and be worshippers however David decided to continue to carry the ARK on a new cart as the Philistines had surrendered it to them on a new cart. David instead of disbanding how the Philistines handled the ARK, he continued with it. One man by the name of Uzza was struck dead by God when he reached to help the ARK that had stumbled while on the cart. Because David did not follow the proper way of handling the ARK, one man died. 1Chronicles 13:12, “David was afraid of God that day, saying, “How can I bring the ARK of God to me?” David recognized the mistake he had made, God wasn’t going to be handled the philistine’s ways who abused the ARK since they brought it in for their personal gain. God has His way of being served and in as much as we may try to do it our way, it will not work. It’s His way or no way, His will and not ours. They were excited from the beginning about bringing home the presence of God, all of a sudden, the joy turned into mourning. David decided to leave the ARK in Obed-Edom’s house who I believe was a Levite, meanwhile David went back home to inquire of how the ARK should be handled and this time to bring home the ARK the right way.

1Chronicles 13:14, “The ARK of God remained with the family of Obed-Edom in his house three months. And the Lord blessed the house of Obed-Edom and all that he had”. What a blessing to know that when His presence is handled right, He opens the windows of heaven and pours us blessings that we will not even have enough room to contain them all. This was not an earned blessing, this was a bestowed blessing. A man opened his house for the presence of God to dwell in inform of the ARK of God, which opened ways for blessings. The Lord says, “Blessings, I will bless you” but we have to allow Him to come in and dwell with us for the blessings to flow. Obed-Edom might have not had a great position but the presence of the ARK sure made him be blessed. Proverbs 10:22, “The blessings of the Lord makes rich, and adds no sorrow with it”. This is more than the material richness, this goes for spiritual stuff, wisdom, understanding, discernment, character enlargement. The blessings of the Lord touches on every part of our lives.

Are you worried about position or His presence? Is the position more important to you than His presence? Do you want the blessings without the presence? As long as the ARK of God remained in Obed-Edom’s house, God blessed him and his home abundantly. I desire the ARK always in my life, which means desiring God’s presence every day. The Israelites did not enquire of the Lord during the times of Saul; I have purposed to go back to inquiring of the Lord even more because I need Him and I need more blessings. Blessings Ev
