Jeremiah 33:3, “Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know”
Not too long ago I was watching a DVD entitled “extreme engineering”. It was a DVD about how some mega structures have been built. One mega structure that caught my attention was one about building a railroad. They surveyed the area by which the rail would pass. There were different obstacles, a major one being a mountain in front of them. Instead of going around it which was impossible, they only had one choice, to make a way through the mountain however hard it was going to be, attempting the impossible with what they had. With the mountain before them, they had to bring in the right equipment to break through to the other side. They used explosives to create a path.
We too are building roads to our futures and there are obstacles everyday small and big. We have mountains standing in the way, the question is, what do we do about them? Without prayers as your explosive device, there is no way you will breakthrough. There is something about prayers that should not be taken lightly. Prayers pave a way for God to move. Prayer works because God works through prayers. There are things God wills and then waits for His children to call on Him. It shows we trust Him with what we are facing; it’s bringing the right tools (Person) into your situation. When we pray, we are bringing God into our situations for we know we can do nothing without Him. He is like the explosive that breaks through obstacles and making way for us. Psalm 18:32, “It is God who arms me with strength, And makes my way perfect”, 2Samuel 22:33, “God is my strength and power, And He makes my way perfect”.
Prayer affects three different Spheres of existence as E.M. Bounds puts it, “The Divine, the angelic and the human. It puts God to work, it puts the angels to work and it puts people to work.” Prayer puts everyone to work. “Prayer is simply faith resting in, acting with, leaning on and obeying God.” Those who know their God will value prayers, their lives fully depend on it.
In our tough economic times and other things happening, who would you rather put your trust in, in God or the government, stocks and bond or faith in God? The bible says, Psalm 20:7, “Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; But we will remember the name of the LORD our God.” Psalm 118:8, “It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.” How will you and I show the Lord we trust Him if we don’t call upon Him in our prayers to answer us?
This quote continues to bless my heart because it’s the heart of prayers by great missionary Hudson Taylor, who said, “The prayer power has never been tried to its full capacity. If we want to see Divine power wrought in the place of weakness, failure, and disappointment, let us answer God’s standing challenge, Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.” We bring Him into the picture by praying and He will do great and mighty things we cannot do. Arise O God, demonstrate your power.
With what is happening, we need God now more than ever; we need to pray like we’ve never done before. The more we pray, the more we show God we are not depending on ourselves, we are depending on Him. He is our explosive through the obstacles of life. He is the way maker. Blessings Ev
