Revelation 22:1-21, “And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give everyone according to has work”
We are living in the end times believe it or not. A man by the name of Harold Camping confidently predicted the Second Coming of the Lord on May 21, 2011, he thinks he knows Jesus’ timing better than Christ does. While these claims have been made in the past by different people who claimed Christ was coming on a particular date, all failed and so shall this one. Again we have to be reminded that the end times prophesies in the old and the new testament are being fulfilled before our eyes. Jesus said that He does not know the day or the hour of His coming but when we see these signs, we ought to know He is coming soon.
Now many have said where is He? They say they’ve been talking about His second coming for years starting from the days of the disciples. Read what Peter writes to the people of his time in 2Peter 3:1, “Beloved, I now write to you this second epistle (in both of which I stir up your pure minds by way of reminder), 2 that you may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us, the apostles of the Lord and Savior, 3 knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, 4 and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? … 8 But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. 10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up”
As Paul was writing to Timothy in 2Timothy 3:1-9, I would sum up all the seven verses to these, a world of lawlessness and Godlessness in the last days. Listen to what he says, 1″But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2, “People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3, “without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4, “treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— 5, “having a form of godliness but denying its power…6, “They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over weak-willed women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires, 7, “always learning but never able to acknowledge the truth(NIV). Do we see this in our world today? I’m not sure if Paul was prophesying., I think he may have gazed into the future and made an observation based on how things were happening in his time. I believe he knew that instead of things getting better, they would get worse and here we are seeing them. Things are getting more worse in our world and I don’t think they will stop.
Listen to Jesus speaking about the end times in Mathew 24:3-7, “And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? 4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. 5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. 6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. 7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places:” What a time we are living in.
No man knows the day or the hour of His return except the Father. Are we getting ourselves ready like the five wise virgins who had oil in their lamps burning waiting for the coming of the groom? They did not know when He would come but they were ready. We too may not know but we ought to be ready. Blessings Ev
