Faith Comes By Hearing…, Evans Olang

Romans 10:17, “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God”

Commercials are one of the greatest tools the manufacturers use to convey messages of their new products. Millions of dollars are poured into commercials to create awareness of the latest products. The commercials are supposed to be catchy and sometimes funny, some with twisted humor. Why do people go for things they go for? either someone told them about it and were convinced it works or saw it on TV, heard it on radio, billboards, newspapers. The product will not do them good if they don’t try it. For a fact, most commercials exaggerate what their products can do only to discover its ability to work for a short time and its effectiveness is gone.

We have talked about faith so many times but let this help build your faith. Faith is the confident belief in the truth, value, and worthiness of a person, idea or a thing. It’s being loyal to a person or a thing. If you were to tell me your name, I must have faith to believe you told me the truth. If I said, “I don’t believe you”, chances are, you will be offended because I am insinuating you are deceiving me, the same way if you told me where you live and I told you I doubt it, you will not take it kindly. Hebrews 11:6, says “For without faith it is impossible to please God…”. You want to please God, you have to have faith, believing what He has said without doubting. Doubt is an indication of mistrust, and what an insult it is to God. He has displayed his products to us inform of creation, life, blessings again and again therefore He is God who can be trusted, have faith in Him.

Faith is commitment. When the bible talks about FAITHFUL servant, it refers to one who is committed to a task because he has believed the one who authored the task. It is a way to build more faith because the person whom you hang around for long, their character is displayed, you have a better way of dealing with them when it comes to faith. It is evident that you have no faith in some people, you cannot trust them with things like information or finances, they have no character to support that trust. Thanks be to God who is faithful, He never leaks your information to someone else, and does not mess with what you have trusted Him with. The children of God are people of faith, committed to this walk of life with Christ, 2Corinthians 5:7, “For we walk by faith and not by sight“. It is a tough one but we are determined to ride it out because we want to please Him.

He that uses the product must first believe that it works and what is the testimony? I don’t think faith just appears from nowhere and we believe it. It comes by hearing, hearing someone’s testimony that God can, hearing the word that drills through the nutshell of doubt and unbelief. The continuous word spoken goes around that shell and melts it down allowing it to have a new master F.A.I.T.H (Forever All In Thy Hand). You can only come to someone because you know they have it, Christ does have it forever in His hands. Doubt is the enemy of faith and it comes easily, but faith needs a lot of force to occupy. Faith is gradual concurring one step at a time depending on what it is given to feed on. We have established what faith comes by, “Hearing“, this presents a little problem because you could hear things but wrong things and for sure those can also build faith but only towards the wrong things. “It comes by hearing by the word of God“. God’s word is like the commercial that we see out there, the only difference is that His word is not exaggerated, nothing can be added to it and nothing can be taken away from it. It presents itself, defends itself and also proves itself. It never fails, it does not work for a season, it works always. It does not fall short of anything and it does not return void. What it starts, it will accomplish. It is committed through the author to accomplish what it is meant for. Do not forget that faith draws a man to God. Having faith in someone whom you know cannot do it is being unwise. There is nothing impossible with Him, He is the “…author and the finisher of our faith…” Hebrews 12:2, for, Hebrews 11:6,”…He that comes to God must first believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him“. Let your faith be boosted because you have heard the word of God. Blessings Evans
