Exodus 7:10-13, “10 So Moses and Aaron went in to Pharaoh, and they did so, just as the LORD commanded. And Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh and before his servants, and it became a serpent. 11 But Pharaoh also called the wise men and the sorcerers; so the magicians of Egypt, they also did in like manner with their enchantments. 12 For every man threw down his rod, and they became serpents. But Aaron’s rod swallowed up their rods”
In the bible, we see God taking ordinary things to do extraordinary things to show that the power is not in the thing but on whose hands that things is in. And while he takes the ordinary and uses them extraordinarily, we see on the other hand we see the devil at work displaying his magic tricks. The enemy has power no doubt however, God is never intimidated or moved by the tricks of the enemy. The interesting thing is that when God does something, the devil tries to do the same or even top it and God may allow him to display what he can do, the ultimate outcome is what God will go to crash the head of the serpent the devil. God always tops it.
God demonstrated to Moses and Aaron that the rod that they had in their hands by God’s command if thrown down would turn into a serpent. He then sends them to Egypt to perform that miracle. Of course God knew the Egyptian magicians and sorcerers who represent the devil here would also have the power to turn their rods into serpents. And when every man threw down their rod, they became serpents as the bible tells us. All sounded equal and God let the enemy feel good about his power for a second then something happened, Aaron’s rod turned into a serpent which was God’s ordained rod swallowed the magician and sorcerers rods turned into serpents. God had destined to harden Pharaoh’s heart that He would demonstrate His power before him.
What does this tell us, in the process of God demonstrating miracles in your life, don’t be surprised to see the enemy try to top what God is doing. He will play his magical tricks and many of them may be scary and appear true but don’t be intimidated by what the enemy does because not long after that, God’s miracle will swallow the devils little magic tricks. His word says, “2 Chronicles 16:9, “For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself STRONG on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him“. God showed himself strong on behalf of Moses and Aaron when He showed everyone who is GOD. 1 John 4:4, “You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world”. Isaiah 59:19, “When the enemy comes in like a flood, The Spirit of the LORD will lift up a standard against him”.
What is the devil demonstrating in your life right now that is scary and intimidating?, submit to God, resist the devil and he will flee. Cast the written word of God (2Chr 16:9, 1John4:4 and Isa 59:19) and see God’s word come alive in your situation then watch His word swallow everything the devil has demonstrated. Hebrews 4:12, “For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
