God Is Watching Over Your Companion, by Evans Olang

Genesis 20:3, “…God came to Abimelech in a dream by night, and said to him, “Indeed you are a dead man because of the woman whom you have taken, for she is a man’s wife.”

I know that what God has joined together, He takes that move seriously. He takes care of that which He has started. I wish many more people would take marriage seriously like He does. Proverbs 18:22, “He who finds a wife finds a good thing, And obtains favor from the LORD“. Let’s see what favor one obtains from the Lord when he or she is married.

The story of Abraham and his wife fascinates me. The bible talks about Abraham being 75 years old in Genesis 12 and just like women’s age are not always disclosed, the bible does not give us Sarah’s age and all the women said, “AMEN”. We can definitely rule out that she wasn’t very young as her age was not far from Abraham’s. What amazes me is that even at her age which could be around 60’s, she was still pretty, good looking, beautiful, a knock out. What does this mean, that which God has started, He preserves the wife of your youth. Psalms 103:5, “Who satisfies your mouth with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s“. You will agree with me that there are certain people you went to school with who look aged, why? because some worry has caused them to age quickly. When you are in the Lord and you are a touched to a bless Vine, your beauty will always shine cause He will be renewing you every day for your husband.

Abraham in Genesis 12 comes to Egypt with a beautiful wife and he knows that the people of Egypt might kill him and take his wife. So he makes an agreement with her to pretend to be his sister. Pharaoh tries to take Sarah to be his wife and God brought so many plagues and calamities in Pharaoh’s kingdom. Another favor, God will protect the married. I see Abraham’s little weakness not being able to stand strong to defend his wife, but God goes ahead to fight for his wife. I know many feel scared that someone would pounce and hit on their wives. Scared that someone could snatch them away but I believe God will protect when husbands release their wives in God’s hands. After 15 more years, Abraham is now 90, comes to Gerar, Abimelech’s territory and Sarah is still the bomb. Once again Abraham agrees with her to call her his sister. Abimelech desires to take another man’s wife without knowing. Watch this, Genesis 20:3, “…God came to Abimelech in a dream by night, and said to him, “Indeed you are a dead man because of the woman whom you have taken, for she is a man’s wife.” When Abraham could not fight and defend his wife God did and would not allow any man to touch his wife. Someone might say, “It seems as if God is only fighting for the women, how about those men who also find themselves in situations”. Abimelech launched a complaint saying that Abraham deceived him into thinking that Sarah was his sister. Had he known, he would have not desired someone’s wife. I love God’s response, Genesis 20:6, “And God said to him in a dream, “Yes, I know that you did this in the integrity of your heart. For I also withheld you from sinning against Me; therefore I did not let you touch her“. Wives, God will protect your husbands from sinning against God. He will bring His convictions, lead them in the right track that all his attention will be on no one but you. Even if you are not married yet Abraham, know that God is protecting your Sarah somewhere and no man will lay his hands on her for God is saving her for you. If you are Sarah, know that God will protect you from predators like Pharaoh and Abimelech keeping you safe and sound for your Abraham.

Your youth can be renewed every day because you’ve learned to trust God with your companion. Instead of worrying on what could happen to the one you love and who could be eyeing him or her, you got to keep praying for one another to keep you safe and sound. Blessings, Ev
