Nothing Is Impossible…, Evans Olang

Luke 18:27, But He said, “The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.”

We go through life evaluating and planning wisely. You calculate that if you do this for a period of time, you may have success (delayed gratification). Then you realize that even with wise planning things don’t turn out as you expected or planned. What gave you a fruitful promise is shattered before your eyes with no hope that anything good could ever come out of the failure. This begins to define where you go from here as life questions your ability to be a good wife or husband, a good father or mother to your children, or a good provider. Because of what you’ve been through, you are afraid of what your children may turn out to be as they grow older. What you thought you had mastered and had under control feels like has come to the end of the road with no answers but failure. It seems like time is running or has run out, you see un accomplished dreams due to major setbacks, all you can now see is impotency in some areas of your life and there is no way you can see things being possible. Did I just describe your situation? Then hang on tight, there is good news “all things are possible”.

Reading Mark 10, there is a story about a rich young ruler who came to Jesus. He felt that everything about his life was in place as he had kept most of the commandments. He had wealth and what he felt could be his ticket to salvation. When Jesus pointed to him that his god was his wealth, he went away sad. Jesus turns to His disciples and says, “How hard it is for those who have riches to enter the kingdom of God“. They were astonished at His sayings, and He goes further to say 25, “It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.” What is this all about? It’s not by wealth and riches that things become possible, it’s by God’s greater hand. How many have all the wealth and have no peace, their children are on the loose running wild. If you trust in what you have, you are calling for disaster because sooner or later you will run into a situation where writing a check will not solve a problem. It cannot even buy your way into heaven; it’s easy for a Carmel to go through the eye of a needle than for riches to make ways for one into heaven. This is not to discourage people from being rich but if the riches are what makes it possible for you then you have failed. God has no problem with you getting stuff; He has a problem with stuff having you.

The disciples stood there and asked, in verse 26, “Who then can be saved?”, men can’t but God. This is why Jesus said with men it is impossible but not with God. I see how it begins with God and ends with God. If I am going to be a good husband, good father, good in all I do, then I can’t rely in my ability. With me it’s impossible but not with God. Mark 9:23, “…, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.” Oh how God desires that we will believe in Him and nothing else, that we will size Him first before sizing the problem, that we will trust Him with what we cannot trust anyone else with, in turn He will turn the impossible to be possible. In Jesus final hours before crucifixion you hear Him praying, Mark 14:36, “Abba, Father, all things are possible for You. …” Jesus knew that the Father had the ability to change His fate and He chose to leave all in His hands. Can we pray the same, “Abba, Father, all things are possible with You? in light of what my children are facing, all things are possible with You; with my future, all things are possible with You; with everything that has been hard and difficult to deal with, all things are possible with You. It can only be impossible if God is not in it, NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR A PERSON WHO DOESN’T HAVE TO DO IT HIM OR HERSELF. Let God be God in your life and let Him melt all the impossibilities for His glory. Blessings Ev
