2Peter 2:2, “And many will follow their destructive ways, because of whom the way of truth will be blasphemed”

“…because of whom the way of truth will be blasphemed”. The world mocks and scoffs at the gospel of Jesus Christ because of nominal Christians who do not follow the Lord they claim and have been unmasked as hypocritical people.

The prophets prophesy falsely, and the people love to have it so. The spreading of error will bring up an evil report on the way of truth; that is, the way of salvation by Jesus Christ, who is the way, the truth, and the life. The Christian religion is from the God of truth as the author, leads to true happiness in the enjoyment of the true God as the end, and works truth in the inward part as the means of acceptably serving God “ Matthew Henry. The way of truth is also blasphemed when false prophesies are made in the name of Lord and do not come to pass and no one is raising questions so that those who prophesied are held accountable for their prophesies. God’s great name is dragged on the mud, blasphemed all day long. God has a concern for His great name. Should not prophesies if any be in line with His word and not contradict it? Are we so fascinated with extra biblical manifestation that we violate God’s written word and don’t challenge those who contradict it? If anything, prophets of today should be PROCLAIMING God’s word and not FORTH TELLING. We are to be the Ezekiel’s in the valley of dry bones proclaiming the word of God Ezekiel 37 to the dry bones until life is restored in the valley. If the Gospel we preach cannot be preached at all times in every place, it’s no gospel at all and has no power.

The tragedy of a false teacher/preacher is that they are not clear on the gospel or how they teach it. They may say “Jesus is the only way” but the rest of the message sounds like “inclusive gospel”, a gospel that is non-offensive so as to avoid losing followers or being controversial. Jesus never got excited about the crowds, He knew exactly the kind of gospel they wanted but He would not give it to them, He refused to change the message. He is unchanging God, His message is unchanging in a changing world. True gospel preaching starts with the nature of God and then reveals the nature of man and the commitment to Christ. Jesus said, Matthew 16:24 “…, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me”.  Matthew 10:37-39, “37 He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. 38 And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. 39 He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it”.

Paul was not ashamed of the true Gospel even when he was being persecuted because he knew in the gospel lied the power of God to save souls, Romans 1:16-17, “16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. 17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.”, Popular or not, Paul said, Acts 20:27, “For I have not shunned to declare to you the whole counsel of God”.

Toxic gospel gives people want they want which perishes, rather than what they need which is eternal. It is many times half gospel which is no gospel at all. Therefore they preach another gospel that gives many people assurance of hope when they don’t have the truth that saves which is Christ. 2Corinthians 4:1-6, “1 Therefore, since we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we do not lose heart. 2 But we have renounced the hidden things of shame, not walking in craftiness nor handling the word of God deceitfully, but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God. 3 But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, 4 whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them. 5 For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord, and ourselves your bondservants for Jesus’ sake. 6 For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.”

This is why it’s important we know those who pour into our hearts. Do they preach the same gospel Paul, Peter, Christ preached or they preaching another gospel? Do what they preach in public the same as what they preach in private or do they change the message to appeal to men in certain arenas? Is the gospel they preach man centered or Christ centered? Do they have biblical qualification to be a bishop, a minister, a preacher? Titus 1:7-9, ”7 For a bishop must be blameless, as a steward of God, not self-willed, not quick-tempered, not given to wine, not violent, not greedy for money, 8 but hospitable, a lover of what is good, sober-minded, just, holy, self-controlled, 9 holding fast the faithful word as he has been taught, that he may be able, by sound doctrine, both to exhort and convict those who contradict.” God’s work must be done God’s way if we are to see God move. The fair question to ask, are we hindering God’s move because we are enabling those who preach another gospel?, blessings Ev
